If I ask someone to pray for me, I don't pray to them while asking. Do you PRAY to someone to pass the salad at dinner time? If I ask you a question, am I praying TO you? Ick!

Not a single verse tells us to pray to any of the billions of the preceding dead folks in the world. We only pray to Jesus and/or his Father.

1 Cor 13 says the gifts will cease at the return of Christ. nobody will need to speak in tongues when physically shaking His hand.

Sure the dead are there, but we do not talk to the dead. We only talk to the one that raises the dead.

I understand. However, these "spiritualizations" are not a good idea. This is precisely how false doctrines arise...and I have seen some doozies.

To converse with folks, it is important to understand each others beliefs. This minimizes misunderstandings. There are many preterists around, but almost all of them will not say they are. I am open to being labeled a "futurist", because that is what I believe and teach.
