Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

The plural "shabuim" is just the normal plural of "shabua," the same way "weeks" is the plural of "week." Neither the singular nor the plural form is used to mean "years" anywhere else in the Old Testament.

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

We just see things differently, not a problem.

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

I’m pretty sure it’s literal weeks. sml Can you point me to any other passages in the Bible where shâbûa‛ means weeks of years?

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

How does that change anything? Is Daniel not a Prince, is Acts not a Prince? You’ll have to give more information on what you’re saying here.

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

You're right that it's our sin that made Christ's death necessary. Isaiah 53 and Romans 3 both say that plainly, and I'm not disputing it. But there's a difference between "our sin necessitated the cross" and "every person who ever lived personally murdered Him." Scripture names specific...

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

Act 3:14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; Act 3:15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Shall be called means not yet called.

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

The Bible says weeks - 7 days. I know you think it’s week of years so yes, it probably does sound absurd from that perspective. In the literal week's reckoning, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, and at the end of that week He rose from the dead, confirming the covenant God made with...

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

The specific title "Prince" — Greek archegos only shows up twice in the New Testament, and both times it's tied directly to the resurrection, not the baptism. Look at the wording itself in Acts: Act 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Act 5:31 Him...

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

Yes but are you saying that’s when he became Prince?

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

That just nailed something down for me. Jesus became the Prince either at the resurrection or on Pentecost which means Daniels 70 weeks was completed on resurrection day or Pentecost.

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

I don’t know what you mean. Do you think the murder of Jesus was not an abomination to God? Do you think the murder of Jesus is not why Jerusalem was left desolate. Not getting on you, I’m trying to understand where you’re coming from.

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

Are you talking about the prophecy in Isaiah? If you are then Isaiah is prophesying that Jesus would be called Prince of Peace, it doesn’t say when he would get the title. Acts tells us when he would be prince. Act 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a...

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

The murder of Jesus was the abomination David. The murder of Jesus is why the kingdom was taken from Israel and Jerusalem was destroyed.

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

I see your point. Maybe the missing title just means He wasn't yet "Prince" at the cutting off because that title came at the resurrection? Philippians 2:8-9 has humiliation first, then exaltation as the result. Acts 2:36 says God "made" Him Lord and Christ after the resurrection. So the...

Daniel 9:25 - the messiah the prince

Abomination Something detestable, morally repugnant — provoking God's own revulsion, most often tied to idolatry or a severe violation of what's holy. Example: God sends His only begotten Son to save a people — and they murder Him. Desolation A state of ruin and emptiness — the aftermath of...

That’s the new age religion. Everybody can be saved, Christ isn’t needed and in fact you can become Christ.

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

I’ve learned pretty much everything I know about Christianity through Bible and doctrinal discussions with other believers. I feel like my understanding of what it means to be crucified with Christ may be lacking. Debate usually brings my thinking to areas it might not have gone to otherwise.
