More on the deity of Christ

You start your post claiming to know what my church teaches, but as far as I am aware, we don't know each other, so you don't know what church I belong to or what it teaches. I agree that "logos" is often used in the bible to refer to words spoken or written by God or others. But for the...

More on the deity of Christ

Who do you mean, I wonder, by the trinitarian translators? I ask this because as far as I am aware, the translators of versions like the KJV, the NKJV, and others that refer to the Word as "He" were all believers in the Trinity. Besides, what is more important is what John actually wrote in...

More on the deity of Christ

But all of that, (the Word of John 1:1 being an "it") ignores what John writes just a few verses later about the same Word: “He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received...

    Limited atonement !

I am sure that brightframe52's God is the same God I believe in, described in the bible as almighty. Far from being impotent, He is omnipotent: “And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For...

Don't fall into the trap, of thinking your faith is solely your doing - it is your doing in part, but praise God daily

Where did I make the mistake of the Gnostics? My post had very few of my own words. I just said: "Or you can thank God for doing it all:" and "Paul didn't tell the Christians at Ephesus, "You've done something!" No, he says "God has made you alive, God has made you sit together in the...

Don't fall into the trap, of thinking your faith is solely your doing - it is your doing in part, but praise God daily

Or you can thank God for doing it all: “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all...

The Bible is Father-Centric not Christo-Centric

But your claim seems to ignore the opening verses of John's gospel, which state clearly that the Word was in the beginning with God, and the Word was God: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made...

    Limited atonement !

However, "whoever" ("whosoever" in older English) doesn't mean "everybody without exception." Take John 3:16: “"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (Joh 3:16 NKJV) Yes, it's not "everybody"...

Was the Transfiguration a vision, or an actual appearance of Moses and Elijah?

I don't agree that all denominations are heresies and sects. A heresy is (according to the dictionary I looked in) an opinion or doctrine contrary to the orthodox tenets of a religious body or church. So the Roman Catholic church (a denomination) accused the Reformers of heresy, because their...

Infant Baptism is not given in scripture.

Sorry for the lateness of my reply. I have only just seen your post. The Anglican Church does call it baptism. The Book of Common Prayer, their service book, includes a section: "The MINISTRATION of PUBLICK BAPTISM of INFANTS To be used in the C H U R C H." I think they probably use a more...

Was the Transfiguration a vision, or an actual appearance of Moses and Elijah?

I assure you I did read your entire post. The post included these words: "This passage says false prophets and false teachers will bring in denominations," That is why I wrote in response: "Sorry, where does the passage say that false prophets and false teachers will bring in denominations...

Was the Transfiguration a vision, or an actual appearance of Moses and Elijah?

But that is far too general. Some denominations have gone far from bible truth, and some never had it to start with, but it is surely wrong to say that all denominations are heretical. The verse from 2 Peter 2 is talking about false teachers. By no means all denominations were brought in by...

    Limited atonement !

Why should "incarnate" and particular redemption (limited atonement) be "categorically, diametrically opposite of each other?" Incarnate refers to God taking human flesh. Surely we all believe that He did, whatever our beliefs about the extent of the atonement. Really? So why does Paul write...

Is your faith your own? - Is "the Faith" prescribed by a human institution?

When I was converted, I certainly wasn't following a church, whether a local church or a denomination. One result of my conversion was that I realised the "church" I had been brought up in wasn't preaching the gospel as found in the bible. Nobody had ever told me that I was a sinner and needed...

They're running out of pressure, their mutations are getting worse, the Devil won't relent - who but God is there for the Evolutionists? (scared?)

English translations of the bible are divided. Most print it as "the devil," but some do as you do, "the Devil."

    Yahweh or Jehovah?

I take it to have referred immediately to the existing Scriptures, the Old Testament. However, it wasn't long before scripture was being used to refer to New Testament books too: “Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and...

    Yahweh or Jehovah?

Really? So what did Jesus mean when He said: “"You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.” (Joh 5:39 NKJV) Or: “Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things...

In English, only proper nouns (names of people, towns, countries, etc.) are capitalised (unlike German, where all nouns start with a capital letter). The devil is not his name. If instead the poster had called him "Satan", that would start with a capital S.

    Yahweh or Jehovah?

Well, Jesus quoted from it regularly, so did the apostles.
