Why Christians not under the Torah

Why does the 1st "day" start 2 1/2 hours in?

Why Christians not under the Torah

A judge, an accuser, the accused, and the testimony of 2 or more witnesses. And a pile of rocks.

Christianity is NOT Derived From Judaism

Agree? That isn't quite what I said. There's a metaphor of "trees = emperors" that runs through the whole Bible. The clearest example comes from Ezekiel, where the Assyrian king is "the tallest tree in Eden" and his people are envisioned taking refuge under his branches. There are several...

Christianity is NOT Derived From Judaism

As I understand Romans 11, the Root is Jesus. Israel and Judah and Christianity are all branches attached to that Root. I agree with the statement at the head of this topic - Christianity is NOT derived from Judaism. Historically, "Judaism" indicates the Pharisee's practice of observing the...

Christianity is NOT Derived From Judaism

Interesting. My own understanding of the Bible is that God is All-Seeing, which is not precisely the same thing as Omniscience, though they are certainly neighbors.

Christianity is NOT Derived From Judaism

You're probably right... my experience is anecdotal, although there were a fair number of people there. I didn't exactly study their beliefs in detail, as I am already familiar enough with Dispensationalism to know that there are some cracks in that foundation.

Christianity is NOT Derived From Judaism

It's a free-will, hyper-dispensationalist movement. The folks I ran into on another forum had basically relegated most of the Bible to "that was a different dispensation and not for us." Their Bible was basically just Paul and Revelation

Christianity is NOT Derived From Judaism

@Lambano Am I wrong though? You yourself pointed out Marcion. I would point out the modern 'Open Theology' movement.

Why Christians not under the Torah

As I see it, the problem is that Jack wants to condemn others. He is lief to side with a Demiurge who consigns the unrighteous to the pit.

Christianity is NOT Derived From Judaism

This seems to be true. Every time I encounter a group that promotes Paul ahead of the other apostles, it always seems to run into some weirdness.

Daniel's 1260 vs. 1290 vs. 1335 vs 2300 Days Prophecies (Abomination of Desolation Was the Crucifixion)

They aren't hard to find, but sure... Hosea 11 was fulfilled during the Exodus, and again in Matthew 2 Isaiah 7 is fulfilled in Isaiah 8, and again in Matthew 1

Daniel's 1260 vs. 1290 vs. 1335 vs 2300 Days Prophecies (Abomination of Desolation Was the Crucifixion)

Clearly twice, but I cannot solve your unwillingness to read the chapters.

Daniel's 1260 vs. 1290 vs. 1335 vs 2300 Days Prophecies (Abomination of Desolation Was the Crucifixion)

That doesn't seem to be the purpose of this topic, but a couple prominent examples: "Out of Egypt I have called my son" "The virgin shall be with child"

Christianity is NOT Derived From Judaism

Not quite to that level. The OP has identified the false-Judaism that has existed alongside the true practice of the faithful since forever. It's a legitimate problem. He seems to be having a baby-and-bathwater problem solving it.

Daniel's 1260 vs. 1290 vs. 1335 vs 2300 Days Prophecies (Abomination of Desolation Was the Crucifixion)

I would suggest that prophecies tend to be fulfilled more than once. From my view, this one was fulfilled in the 1st century with the adoption of the Gentiles to re-constitute Israel. That doesn't mean it can't/won't be fulfilled again.

What was the mark on Cain?

It says something about Cain being a nomad... he was sentenced to wander in "Nod." His descendants are listed at "Jabal" and "Jubal" from which come the herdsmen. As for how the life of the Bronze-Age herdsman goes... the Bible doesn't say that... it assumes we know that, at least in the...

What was the mark on Cain?

Yeah, that isn't obvious... So, in the Bronze Age, you were either (1) a farmer living in arable lands, or (2) a herder living in non-arable lands. Those two groups don't get along well. Farmers and ranchers have always had beef (pun intended). Cain belongs to the nomadic herding group. In...

What was the mark on Cain?

Looking at Hebrew, the word for Cain's mark is a different word than the one elsewhere used prohibiting tattoos (Lev 19). The word used is similar to one used several times designating circumcision as a 'mark' of the covenant. Speculatively, it may have something to do with the prohibition on...
