    A paraphrase of Eph 1.18 - 20

1.18 your innate capacity to perceive and understand spiritual truth is now in a permanent enlightened state, as a result of this, you may now acquire (come to possess) a fully formed vision of the nature of our hope (final destiny) as it relates to His divine invitation, as well as what the...

Heb 2.3, 4 the cessation of miracles

Heb 2:3, 4 how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his...

What is the basis for the unbeliever's condemnation?

I must admit I chuckled when I saw this answer. No, not Universalism. Far from it

What is the basis for the unbeliever's condemnation?

Bruce-Leiter We are miles apart. I can't make heads or tails out of your post. Yes, unbelievers are eternally condemned for rejecting the Creator. Can't make out the rest of what you say. The terms I am using are common terms in academia. Sorry I didn't make much sense.

    Sinless perfection is easy

I will end my involvement in this post by simply quoting 1 John 3.6a Whoever abides in him does not sin. The burden of proof is yours to accept because you have said: Whoever abides in him CAN sin.

    Sinless perfection is easy

ChristinaL, Have you read my OP? What does this mean; Whoever abides In Him DOES NOT SIN? John says we don't sin IN HIM, which is simply a term meaning we are in fellowship without any known sins. In this position, we can not sin. That is what the verse says. You can't have unconfessed sin while...

    A paraphrase of Eph 1.5-8

I am looking for comments and criticisms about these paraphrases. Why are you concerned with my posting these paraphrases here?

    Sinless perfection is easy

I have no idea why you think I say people can live their entire life sinlessly. All I said is while we are IN HIM we can't sin. We are sinless at that time. Once we are lured out of fellowship with him, we sin. That is also why I said I have been sinning for 66 years.

    More on 1 John 3.6b

1 John 3.6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. I argued earlier that the one abiding "in him" can not sin because he is walking in the light. Being "in him" is being in fellowship. The second half of this verse also is a bit tricky. The...

    A paraphrase of Eph 1.5-8

I learn best by researching each word/phrase/verse and putting it into a paraphrase. I do this for my own study. not interested in publishing anything.

    A paraphrase of Eph 1.14 - 17

1.14 Who (Spirit in his sealing ministry) is the initial release of this inheritance, a down payment, as it were, denoting God’s ownership (and future intention), and this initial release or first installment of the Holy Spirit remains ours until the long-awaited redemption of His property is at...

    A paraphrase of Eph 1.11 - 13

1:11 and because of our permanent position IN CHRIST we also have been appointed as God’s inheritance, or perhaps, we have been appointed an inheritance (by God) which was foreordained in accordance with His predetermined plan (his decree), a plan/decree which originated from the One who sets in...

    Sinless perfection is easy

Yes, I have been sinning for 66 years, in the same way the Apostle Paul keeps on sinning.

    Sinless perfection is easy

So you disagree with world renown Greek Grammarian Dan Wallace of Dallas Seminary, my former boss. You need to do more studying on the Present Tense in Rom 7. See his book Greek Grammar beyond the Basics, pg. 531. Go to the top scholars who know the original language of NT Greek. Don't take my...

    Sinless perfection is easy

1 John 3.6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. There it is, those who abide in him do not sin. Can this be true of us? Most translations add something close to "whosoever abides in him does not CONTINUE to sin." I've been sinning for...

    The consequences of sin

Here is a passage taken from Gen 3. Here God states the consequences of the sins of Satan, Adam, and Eve. 14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the...
