    The Covenants of Israel

Again, the Abrahamic covenant has an important bearing on the doctrine of resurrection. The promise entailed in the covenant is the basis of the Lord’s refutation of the unbelief of the Sadducees (this group denied the Resurrection) in the fact of resurrection. To those who denied the...

    When are God's Elect Justified?

It would seem you have committed the error of Equivocation. You appear to be saying that the elect are justified (saved) when they obey (the Gospel??), and the same is true for Gentiles. Do I understand you correctly? But in the second sentence the issue is not salvation, but...

I have you marked as Ignore, so I can't see what you have said. You need not write me again.

    Gnosticism everywhere! John 1.1.

The problem with this is that organized Gnosticism didn't emerge until the very late part of the first century and was more so a cult of the 2nd century. There is no evidence of the Gnostics before AD 70.

    for me

Don't forget James 1.2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. I thank God for...

    The Covenants of Israel

A definition of covenants A divine covenant is (1) a disposition of God, whereby he establishes an unconditional or declarative compact with man, obligating himself, in grace, by the formula, “I WILL,” to bring to pass of himself definite blessings for the covenanted ones, or (2) a proposal of...

    GJohn 1.18

If there were a definite article with THEOS it would support the heresy of Modalism. It would be saying that the Word and the Father are the same persons.

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

i definitely believe that John saw an actual woman on an actual beast. And yes I believe John saw a beast with 7 literal heads and 10 literal horns. There is nothing unusual taking this as literal. We can consult Daniel to get some help on what the beast represents and make sure that we are not...

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

See if this helps. i apologize for misunderstanding you. I believe that there is a literal harlot woman in John's vision. I believe she is literally sitting on the waters Obviously waters is not likely to be literal, but I would consider it odd for someone to take the waters literally. But...

The 7 year Tribulation and the 7 year 70th 'week' (better translated 'seven')

Matt 24.9 uses the word thlipsis (tribulation) of the first half of the Trib. As a Dispensationalist, I take the 70th week as the 7 year Tribulation. They are one and the same thing using our hermeneutic.

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

That is the difference between a symbolic hermeneutic vs a literal hermeneutic. As I said above, I take everything in the Bible literally, and if the literal interpretation does not work, then I will consider other ways to interpret it, but my FIRST approach is a literal, grammatical, historical...

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

My default hermeneutics is to take the Bible literally, and as I said before,as for numbers, I take them literally unless very good reason dictates that the number not be taken literally. Each number has to be judged by itself and the context in which it is found. There are many commentaries...

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

I can tell by your posts that you have not had any formal Bible Training. You don't understand the Apostolic Age and the subsequent Church Age. The Scriptures are taught to Christians by the Spirit as they study the Word, not some mystical experience that God only gives to a few. All believers...

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

We become more Christ-like by the studying of Scripture. The Spirit teaches through the Word/Scripture. GJohn 17.17: Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. There are no hidden/secret meanings to Scripture that the Spirit reveals to you because you have attain some higher level with...

    Rev 21.4. Pass away

But, if her baby is still born, she will have much anguish. This passage in Rev 21.4 let's her know that one day that memory and its associated pain will cease to exist. She will have no memory of such a traumatic experience.

    Rev 21.4. Pass away

The gleaning as I see it is that all the bad things in this world will cease to exist. For a father who has had his daughter raped, for example, this rape will cease to exist and he will not have to live any longer with that Pain. Our worst sin will cease to exist. I find this comforting to know.

Revelation 2:10 ....and you will have tribulation 10 days...

You need to pay attention to what is written in my post. The number seven is a literal number that John uses to write to seven actual churches. The number 7 is not a symbolic number. It is a real number. Each message to these 7 churches is a message to all believers throughout the entire Church...

The NT manuscripts are full of mistakes

That is exactly right. It has about 138,162 words in the CT. In the Greek Manuscripts, there are about 3 variants per word!! About 80% are misspellings, there are tons of moveable nu. Most people don't like to hear these stats, but it should provide comfort. The Muslims have a Bible that has...

The NT manuscripts are full of mistakes

I have read other Ehrman's books but not the one you mention. There are two Bart Ehrmans. One Bart is when he writes a popular book like the one you mention, and the other Bart is when he writes to the scholarly community. Bart is right, there are 400,000 to 500,000 variants, he is not...
