    I abandoned my faith

I personally can not think of any "religion" where the founder says, "Do not put your faith in me unless I do the works of God." Islam is based on faith in Mohammad's claim that an angel gave him new revelation, revelation that contradicts the Bible. There is no evidence to this. In fact...

    I abandoned my faith

Something seems wrong with these question. I think I will stay clear of them. Sorry

    I abandoned my faith

What fact? Your quote? This may be helpful for you. The Shema is recorded in Deut 6.4, it reads, "Listen, Israel, the LORD is our God, the LORD is one." When dealing with the Trinity, you have to combine a lot of verses together. This one in Deut is important. What I want to bring to your...

    I abandoned my faith

I have heard this a million times before. You have to redefine religion first before you make such a claim.

    I abandoned my faith

The Christian apologist will generally use fulfilled prophesy as the starting point. There is no human explanation for the number of prophecies that were fulfilled at the first coming of Christ. About 100 prophecies were given hundreds of years before Christ was even born. Some Liberals try to...

If you are going to comment on one of my posts, at least read the whole thing.

    "If" or "When"? - 1 John 1:9

I was graduated magna cum laude from a bible college in Dallas Texas back in 1983. I majored in Bible/Theology, and a minor in Biblical Languages, and I have worked for Dan Wallace and his organization Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts. I worked Textual criticism for him and then...

    "If" or "When"? - 1 John 1:9

Don't be discouraged by laypeople. They are naturally intimidated by scholars. Laypeople tend to be very lazy. The idea of training oneself in the Greek NT is a joke to them. Reading the layperson's posts is rather an exercise in futility. But, that is just my opinion.

    I abandoned my faith

I got in trouble writing this short article, and I ran across a quote I wanted to give that basically tells what I was trying to say. The quote is from Dr Ron Rhodes from Dallas Theological Seminary. It says: "Evidence-based faith has been replaced by experience-based faith." Most start off...

    "If" or "When"? - 1 John 1:9

If you read Christian laypeople, please don't quote them for a point you want to make. You only quote people who are qualified to make the statement. This way you can't be accused of being lazy and a neophyte. If you are reading Christian laypeople instead of scholars, you will rarely grow in...

    "If" or "When"? - 1 John 1:9

I can not think of one evangelical scholar who holds these views. You may have seen "multiple Christians" teach this, but you are not reading from scholars. Can you give me just one name of these multiple Christians who teach that if a Christian commits even one sin, he needs to go through the...

POSTRIB RAPTURE. A BIBLE ONLY VIEW

For now, just respond to the itemized list of the differences between the Rapture and the Second Coming: At the Rapture: 1. Christ comes FOR His own in the air 2. All believers are translated into new bodies 3. Christians are taken to the Father's House 4. There is no judgment on the earth 5...

POSTRIB RAPTURE. A BIBLE ONLY VIEW

You overlooked all those differences. No comment? Yes, Paul is going to be in Phase 1. All Christians will be in Phase 1. OT saints and Tribulation saints that die will be in Phase 2.

I hate myself, and hate being an atheist.

For Christians who deal with atheists, keep in mind that according to Paul in Rom 1 all humans know that God exists. We all know this intuitively. When someone tells me he/she is an atheist, I just smile.

POSTRIB RAPTURE. A BIBLE ONLY VIEW

The Rapture appears in the Olivet Discourse with "as it was in the days of Noah." But the Rapture is a mystery and we shouldn't expect to see the Rapture in the Old Testament, including the Gospels. It is a NT doctrine. Perhaps the following comparison of events between the Rapture and the...

POSTRIB RAPTURE. A BIBLE ONLY VIEW

Not exactly. This passage is about the Second Coming, not the Rapture.

POSTRIB RAPTURE. A BIBLE ONLY VIEW

Here is a passage that Pre-Tribs believe to the true: 29“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear...

    "If" or "When"? - 1 John 1:9

Can you give us a couple of examples of this assertion.

    "If" or "When"? - 1 John 1:9

English versions also translate first-class conditions as "if." The Greek will tell you which one it is.

    "If" or "When"? - 1 John 1:9

You wrote: "Just curious about the seemingly poor word choices." These are all simple third-class conditions in the Greek. "if" is the correct translation, not "when."
