The poetic licence employed in some verses is obvious . . . eg. Isa 55:12 For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Isa 44:23 Sing, O you heavens...

Grace-Haters are incapable of honestly admitting what the (P) in Calvinism really means. @atpollard Well you can't have your cake and eat it. The Calvinist/Reformed rhetoric says when the saints get to heaven they see a banner saying, "You are here because of God's choosing". By the same...

I hope my comment doesn't seem aimless and uncertain. I'm glad you didn't come across as accusative, because when our ministries and giftings repeatedly take us into testing situations, a message from the pulpit or elsewhere that throws shade on our service is a disappointing diatribe to have...

The internet is like the the sun, which has many benefits to offer, but can also be harmful if exposed to unwisely. God wants us to use our gifts and skills for His glory, which motivates me to volunteer my responses on forums. The thought does occur to me that if I lose the plot when I'm old...

Back when the internet was quite new I was in a Christian bookshop owned by an acquaintance who took me to his computer and showed me a website that had him intrigued. I found myself looking at hotspots all around the world on a map where natural disasters, weather events, and human crises were...

Hi @lforrest Literary devices are an area of interest for me, particularly their use in the Bible. I list the definitions of anthropomorphism, personification, and metaphor below so that their similarities can be noted, and that is exactly what their purpose is, to highlight similarities. God...

Depends how you define Judaism. The Judaisers were a thorn in Paul's side.

:) You nailed it.

Yes, the Parable of the Sower is so illuminating. A person can transition from being a Wayside Hearer of the Gospel to being Stoney Ground, then a Weed Patch, and finally Fertile Soil which produces fruit. All this time God the goodness of God plows and sows and waters and nurtures and...

I'm curious. Your visble Personal Details Panel (below your avatar) shows you as Christian. Why if that's not true? And why do you hang out on Christian Forums?

So in that case it is NOT a falling away from "salvation by grace through faith", and therefore not relevant to the Scriptures that address such falling away. How can anyone fall away from something they never had????????????????? Heb 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once...

This thread is about falling away and falling short, so it appropriate to examine Scriptures that reference this. Heb 6:4-8 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, (5) and have tasted the good...

The Bible contradicts the above opinion. For the Galatians to become estranged from Christ they first had to know Him. Gal 5:4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. They began in the Spirit but like many after them fell...

Question: What convinces you that the Bible is from God? Anwer: The effect it has on people.

Hi @Lifelong_sinner If you could forget the OSAS & the papacy issues and say what you think it is to "fall from grace" & to "fall short of the grace of God", this would be appreciated. Jamie Buckingham was faithfully pastoring and leading a congregation when he allowed himself to be drawn...

Seriously, I've not posted anything relating to the dispute you raise. The letter to the Hebrews repeatedly warns against apostasy, the moving away from Positional Holiness. Heb 2:1-4 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. (2) For if...

Yes, and I don't refute that, so why the contention?

Once again, Huh? Strawman and non secateur fallacies are to be avoided.

Yes, Positional Holiness is ours if we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God has raised Him from the dead. Practical Holiness is ours if we, being raised with Christ: seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. set...
