Yes, that is because we are not to live our lives and give shame on Jesus. Our culture today is as in the beginning. One wife for one husband. What was acceptable or unlawful in another time can be seen as the opposite today. Right, sis?

To add further knowledge to 1 John 3:9 look at 1 John 5:18. The keep themselves. The Corinthians didn't. But by the second book to them they had repented and were saved. 2 Cor. 7:9-10 9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry...

What they did was quench the Spirit. We still have free will, and we can choose to go back to sinning and even becoming a slave to sin. You are not saved then. Matthew 7:21-23.

If it didn't take you out of your flesh and into the Spirit in thought and deed, I don't know what you think you received, but it wasn't God. 1 John 3:9

Coffee break for a few hours. He was warning them to grow in the Spirit, because they were still acting like baby Christians. They had everything they needed, but they would still act unlovingly towards one another. In other words, their fruit was immature.

1 John 3: 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.

So, you don't obey the law. Fine, I get it. That is why I asked if you act like the world who doesn't obey the law either.

The old covenant laws were merely hitting the surface of sin - what other people could see, except for one. That one commandment condemned them, because it went deeper to our core. That one was coveting. They could still hate and lust, just as long as they didn't go to the extreme of murder and...
