Reread what I posted. The "sugar stick" reference was the way my first Pentecostal pastor described Acts 2:38 for himself. I have never done that. I have never been anti-Acts 2:38, but rather pro-God. I believe firmly in that verse of scripture. It was probably the first one I memorized in...

We can only do what we can do. God can do all things! What is His purpose for each of us in this? What is our purpose in Him? "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible" Mark 10:27

Should we not teach or preach whatever God gives us to teach or preach? When I came to the Lord in 1976, they did teach me from and about Acts 2:38, but they also taught me to read the entirety of the Bible and to talk to and listen to God all of the time. When a sheep hears God's voice, what...

And the preaching of other inspired writers of the scripture? And whatever else God may speak to our heart? Are we all the same part of the Body of Christ each having exactly the same function? 1co 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 1co 12:5 And there are...

I have had mine as well for many years. Recently I started reading from it again each day in addition to my Bible reading. Today's entry posted here really got my attention as I was having trouble. I am not having the same trouble now. What a mighty God we serve! "Wherefore seeing we also are...

Don't let some of these people get to you sister. Post what God leads you to post and stand fast with Him, the One in Whom you believe. He, not any man, is the One who should always be directing each one of us. Give God the glory!

NOW THIS EXPLAINS IT “That they all may be one; as thou Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us? John 17:21 If you are going through a solitary way, read John 17, it will explain exactly why you are where you are--Jesus has prayed that you may be one with the Father as He...

I have always tried to 'preach' what God has put in my mouth in and for the moment. If Acts 2:38 were included, what else could I do?

The song was written long before I was born [1943]... but I remember it. My mother had a stack of 78 RPM vinyl records including that one which as a little boy I listened to on the phonograph. My mother has been gone for many years now and her records were gone long before that, but when I hear...

You do not really leave anything behind. You simply go to the lowest room and abandon yourself to God. [see Luke 14:7-11] We do not grow ourselves. We simply surrender to God and keep on surrendering from moment to moment and from day to day. Will God not increase us? What is the limit to our...

Try to answer the questions I asked as well as to understand some of the verses I quoted. When you can, you may understand the connection. If you believe the UPC essentials then I may know what you believe. I received the Holy Ghost in a UPC, and they taught me those things. Where to from...

He is tightly bound to his church... unwilling to consider the possibility that he may be the one in error. Yet he does not stand with the mainstream Catholics following the man now called Pope Francis. He takes exception to that Pope. Why it is right for him to do so or why that would be...

No! Each one of us needs to be growing. God does not change, but as we grow, are we not changing? What about us is changing?

@Angelina I copied an old one I wrote about a year ago that seems to fit this thread as well... Grace, is it enough? "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." Matt...

But who knows him so well, this One that names himself as the Truth?

Is not the right way to divide the Bible by remembering what Jesus told us? "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26 Studying even the...

That was certainly NOT what I was saying to you. I do not see Acts 2:38 nor any other part of the Bible as childish. Rather, I see it as a guidebook to growth as we are led by the Holy Ghost. There should be no stopping point in our growth as long as we have time left to us. To stop growing is...

Do you not have answers to my questions? If you were not always pushing so hard here on this forum, I would leave you alone, but you won't leave us alone or even try to answer my questions. Who do you expect to take you seriously when you do not even try...?

Praying about your situation!
