I couldn't agree more! Why are you having so much trouble with this? No Christian believes that commandment keeping atones for sin. Not one. It's the quintessential straw man.

    Dead to the Law

It is common to human nature to assume that others possess the evils entrenched in one's own heart.

But you can't make up your mind whether or not you care about souls for whom Christ died, or communicate intelligibly. You're too busy spewing your feverous calumny. I don't rant on about whether I care for you or not. I pray for you every day. You may now proceed to call me a liar. Since...

    Dead to the Law

In other words, God was just waxing philosophical in Deuteronomy 5:29. Got it. What about this: Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. (Genesis 26:5) Is this just a fantastic soliloquy? Jesting with the air?

YOU HAVE HEREBY SHOWN YOUR TRUE COLORS. :( Point/counterpoint? Your communication is just pure mayhem. All in the same post. Great stuff.

    Dead to the Law

It simply means that Jesus did what He wanted to do all along, at least as far back as: O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever! (Deuteronomy 5:29) The new covenant...

Sure! Free love! It's the "Don't tread on me" brand of religion: Smaller government; less demands on people; don't judge me--it hurts.

    Dead to the Law

Errmmm... No It's not Algebra. But folks are gonna search for justification for their disobedience addiction and call those who don't Legalists. That much is for sure. It gets worse all the time. 50 years ago no one claimed that the ten commandments were absolved by the new covenant. Nobody...

Then what do we with this? He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16)

    Dead to the Law

No, not all are saved. But even unconfessed, unrepented sins of the lost require propitiation. Otherwise, we all would have given up the ghost the first time we had a sinful thought.

I love Catholics. The best job I ever had was at a business owned and run by a family of devout, godly, Catholic people. I miss them so much. It almost brings a tear to my eye.
