    No Righteousness = No Heaven

Episkopos, This is not the teaching of Romans 5. All Christian believers are justified by faith, i.e. they are declared righteous by God. It's a forensic action (Rom 5:1-2). Before God, I have been declared righteous. Becoming righteous and to be like Jesus is a life-long growing in Christ...

    No Righteousness = No Heaven

VIJ, Thanks for this perceptive comment. An unbeliever cannot be righteous/justified in God's sight. People are declared righteous/justified by faith in Christ (Rom 5:1-2). So the justified people can only be Christian believers. Oz

    No Righteousness = No Heaven

07, Isn't this the meaning of justification from Rom 5:1-2 (NIV)? Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the...

    Calvinism

Ernest, I don't understand total depravity that way. Total Depravity (the T in FACTS) [Cf. Article 3 of the 5 Articles of the Remonstrance] Humanity was created in the image of God, good and upright, but fell from its original sinless state through willful disobedience, leaving humanity in...

    Calvinism

Enoch, I understand what you say but I don't agree. I can accept total depravity and perseverance of the saints because I understand the free will God has given to us (Ac 16:31), the grace extended to all (Titus 2:11), God's drawing all, as a result of Calvary (Jn 12:32), and offer to whoever...

Sarcasm! Of course, you didn't respond to what I wrote about the content of Hebrew and English words, including etymology, through the Greek and Hebrew word studies. Do you read OT Hebrew and NT Greek. Do you know the grammar and syntax of these languages?

    Calvinism

FH, Ever heard of using Greek and Hebrew lexicons? Try examining the etymology of charis (grace) and pistis (faith). Check out the meanings in Kittel & Friedrich's Theological Dictionary of the New Testament AND Colin Brown (ed), Dictionary of New Testament Theology. Oz You draw a long bow...

    Calvinism

John, My understanding of Calvinism is TULIP in the Presbyterian-Reformed tradition of Calvin and Beza. Of course there are Reformed Arminians in the Jacobus Arminius tradition. A couple months ago I wrote an article, Was John Calvin a TULIP Calvinist? My estimate is that out of the 5 TULIP...

Thanks farouk. We have some lovely, colourful lorikeets Down Under. Sadly, they can be vicious in attacking other birds. Friends have small lorikeets attacking butcher birds and magpies on the trees in their yard. However, the rainbow lorikeet is so very colourful.

My point is still the same, Anthony. If you plan to move towards exposing false doctrine and reconciliation, I recommend you use compassionate mercy, which is what Jesus offers to you and me.

What 'stretching'? Are you speaking metaphorically or literally or allegorically or literally (including metaphors)?:rolleyes:o_O I find you confused in your understanding of literal interpretation. I'm not playing games. I'm saying what literal interpretation means. It includes the use of...

Please take it easy in how you respond to people. What you said may have been the truth but I didn't find it stated in compassionate, Christ-like manner. Do you know how to express truth with gentleness?

John, When Don (D A) Carson spoke at Brisbane City Tabernacle Baptist Church I went to hear him. He's an excellent expositor. I knew he did the initial translation of one NT book (Book of Acts) for The New Living Translation and I asked him what he thought of the Translation. His response was...
