    Who founded your church?

Accepting a gift is COOPERATION, which Scripture calls "sunergos". We can cooperate with God's grace, as Paul states (1 Cor. 3:9, 2 Cor. 6:1) - or we can refuse to cooperate like apostate Jerusalem (Matt. 23:37, Luke 13:34).

    Who founded your church?

No - the problem with anti-Catholicicm is that it has been around for several centuries - and people tend to regurgitate old, debunked myths and lies. If you come to a debate board to discuss what Catholic believe and teach - the do your homework because there are too many educated Catholics...

    Who founded your church?

There is a time for levity - and there is a time for telling the truth. When I engage in a debate about what others believe - I don't tell lies and neither should YOU. If I don't know enough about what they believe - I eith stay out of it - or I do my homework to get the facts. If everybody...

    Nope - just informed.

    Who founded your church?

There's just NO excuse for coming to a debate armed with rumors . . .

    Who founded your church?

No -I simply don't come here unprepared - and I expect the same from anybody who debates here.
  7. BreadOfLife

    Who founded your church?

Because I expect people who come to a debate to come PREPARED, as I am. I don't engage in ANY conversation unless I have done my homework. That's why I assume that whenever a person comes here to debate me and spreads blatant falsehoods about MY Church - that they are lying. If you come to a...

    Who founded your church?

By the way - MOST Protestants that I have spoken with would completely disagree with this position. 99% of them tell me that we DON'T cooperate with God in our salvation - and that it is 100% HIS doing. Unfortunately - this is NOT a Biblical teaching - but a man-made perversion of the...

    Who founded your church?

You're arguing in circles because we ALREADY went over this. I stated several posts back that it is NOT about being "perfectly" obedient. It's about STRIVING to be obedient in our journey of faith so that whe we DO satumble - we know that we must be repentant in order to be forgiven. Luther...

    Who founded your church?

That's not true. I can guarantee you that you have lied in your lifetime - but if you are generally an honest person, I would never consider you to BE a liar. If you repented - were you NOT forgiven? I stole a pack of gum when I was 9 years old. I may be MANY things - but I'm not a "Thief"...

    Who founded your church?

FIRST of all - In 1 Cor. 9:27, Paul is talking about mortifivcati0on of the flesh - which is soething he preached about often (Romans 8:13, Col. 3:5, Gal. 5:24). Secondly - I never called you a "Liar" - I said that you LIED, which you did. BIG difference. You implied that the Church TAUGHT...

    Who founded your church?

WRONG. I rely on Christ's sacrifice. The DIFFERENCE between YOU and me is that I understand that if I don't cooperate with God's grace - I DON'T have faith. ALL I would have is belief - like YOU - which is NO better than the Demons (James 2:19) . . .

    Who founded your church?

    - John the Baptist wore a hair shirt - and Jesus said of him that there was NONE greater. - Fasting is a BIBLICAL discipline (Esth. 4:16, Exod. 34:28, Joel 2:12, Psalm 69:10, Matt. 6:16-18, Luke 2:37, Luke 4:2-4, Acts 13:3-4). - The Bible speaks of wearing sackcloth to mortify the flesh (Psalm...

    Who founded your church?

No - you're still not getting it. Works aren't not an "after effect" of faith. They are en essential element of faith itself. That's what James is trying to explain to his readers is some detail (James 2:14-26). It's precisely what Jesus is talking about in the Lesson of the Sheep and the Goats...

    Who founded your church?

Nobody is "sweeping" ANYTHING under the rug. The plain fact is that the Church has NEVER taught what YOU are alleging. WHY is it that you anti-Catholic cannot argue the facts?? Why do you ALWAYS need to resort to lying to make your points??
  17. BreadOfLife

    Who founded your church?

That's NOT what the Bible says. The Bible assures us that the ONLY true faith is one that WORKS through love (James 2:14-26, Gal. 5:6, 1 Cor. 13:1-13, Matt. 25:21-46, Eph. 2:10, Rev 20:13). You cannot have trust without LIVING it . . .

    Who founded your church?

The key word is repentance, which is the act of being penitent. If you voluntarily engage in a devotion of penitence (self mortification) because you are contrite for for your sins - that's one thing. Torturing yourself is quite another - and has NEVER been taught by the Catholic Church.

    Who founded your church?

You're missing the TRUTH. The Catholic Church does NOT require anybody to walk on their knees for the forgiveness of sins. Tell you what: Find this teaching in the Catechism of the Catholic Church - and I will recant what I have stated and apologize. If you CAN'T find it - then YOU will...

    Who founded your church?

And once again - YOUR understanding of faith differs from what Scripture says that faith is (James 2:19). YOU believe that what the Demons have is faith - and I assure you - it's NOT. They have BELIEF - but WE must have FAITH. Faith is NOT simnply belief. As I have been explaining ad nauseam...
