Do you have an alternative to the identity of the 'terrible beast' of Daniel 7 other than Rome?

Restrained by a local power, pagan Rome, but above and beyond the will of God being established in order to protect His church until they were better established and better equipped to recognize, and resist the impending apostasy.

As moderator, I suggest you keep a wary eye on proceedings.

Interesting observation. The dichotomy of the lamb like beast which speaks as the dragon. The nation that rose up quietly from the land as opposed to the empires of Daniel which rose from the sea... The lamb like nation rising up without predation (comparatively speaking) in an area without...

I would suggest that the law, Torah, is a protective hedge about God's people, eg Mark 12:1. Isaiah 58 speaks of those of God's people who are repairers of the breech; restorers of paths to dwell in. These are I believe those who uphold God's laws making them honorable. Jesus of course was the...

Amen.

Some believe that the USA isn't mentioned in scripture. Before the US came into existence, Bishop Newton quoted Isaac Newton who wrote extensively on eschatological matters, and with no small amount of wisdom. This particular quote I found particularly insightful... There is some debate as to...

Been studying? Don't you mean you've seen the movies, "Left Behind"?

And you're calling him cutie. This is getting awkward.

@Ziggy don't believe everything you hear, especially from the government. Nothing, I repeat, nothing is as it seems. The forces at work in the Hegelian conflict of the world today in battle to rule the world religiously and politically, are religious forces. To ignore, set aside, or bury this...

Isn't that the way the "gospel" was lovingly spread throughout the dark ages?

Oh, and that change, that metamorphosis, that change in direction from being horizontally focused on conquering empires, also had an impact on how we were to view the prophecies from the time of the little horn into the future. From being literal localized political powers, as depicted by...

I want to add to the above. After these local literal powers were established, they did undergo a metamorphosis. This was indicated in the prophecies. In Daniel 8, a little horn arose from the four winds, at first conquering on a horizontal level. Having victories over other powers, taking land...

Okay. But you realize that not all non Catholic faiths cleave to those principles right? Some would say they cannot be alone, needing the others in order to fill the whole plan of salvation. Tell me. When Christ was in His most trying moments, on what did He rely on order to come out victorious?

Hi guys. Look. I don't altogether disagree with either of you. The holy Spirit is certainly sent by God to restrain sin. And yes, Daniel tells us of instances where angels intervened in the affairs of geopolitical politics in order to establish God's will in the earth. Even in us as individuals...

So you disagree with all of those? Even Christ alone? Or do you still support the traditional Catholic view that without the Pope no-one can be saved?

You are correct, it isn't the 12th century. And Aquinas was just continuing what by then had become well entrenched policy with Roman catholicism. The first 'heretics' murdered not looking after the council of Nicea and the dozen or so councils that followed it in as many years. 7, including...

The greatest and most eloquent defense for Sola scriptura is the history of the Roman church. Her crimes, her corruptions, her unholy assignations with the Kings of the world, her wars she waged against Christians from one end of the so called 'holy Roman empire' to the other. All based on the...

I am talking about the restrainer that Paul warned the Thessalonians would soon be removed, making way for the Antichrist. Paul told the Thessalonians first verbally, then again in this second letter, but didn't name it specifically having already done so. He is not talking about the little horn...
