This is true... but not because the word purgatory is not found.

Good. But then why are you discussing church history with a poster???
  3. GodsGrace

    Anti-reformers month

Right. Are you saying the church did not write scripture? Or that it did not compile scripture into a bible?

Can't agree with you. Your way of being a friend with Christ is not the only way. There are persons that have never read the bible that are just as saved as you are. There are persons that believe incorrect doctrine that are just as saved as you are. Knowing the bible does not save...

I'd like an answer from the other poster...I hope to get one. Some just don't know church history...

If an annulment was declared, the person could get remarried in the church. An annulment means that the marriage never took place.

Hi marks...I did notice that your last paragraph above was important and I wanted to not be sleepy... Here's what you stated: Our concern is over being sufficiently obedient, sufficiently trusting so as to maintain our good standing with God. My concern is that we remain sufficiently trusting...

Your yes yes and your no no has nothing to do with salvation. As to all of the rest...it sounds nice. Could you post some scripture that states that once we come to believe we could NEVER lose that belief? Jesus does not agree with you. Luke 8:13 Luke 15:24 John 15:2 John 15:10 ....

Your NOPE is concerning who compiled the bible. Of course the church of the time compiled the bible. Who do YOU think did this?

Sorry Ezra, it sounded like you knew the situation... "Remarried" in this case just means those that were divorced for non-acceptable reasons (by the CC) and then remarried. Until Pope Francis they were not allowed to receive communion. Pope Francis stated in a writing (I can't remember...

Ah. OK...you explained. Marks, I'm not new here but have been gone a while and I don't know you... Is this the only verse you'll discuss?

No Mark's You got prescriptive and descriptive mixed up... Colossians 3 is prescriptive.... YOU mean descriptive. No problem.

Sorry, I don't understand. How do You interpret John 5:28?

marks... I learned early on that it's really important to read everything in context. The verse ITSELF (Colossians 3:1-3) gives us conditions. Colossians 3:1-3 1Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God...

Hey FB Luke 10:29's usage of the word justify means something totally different... But I see you don't care to use the word sanctification.... As I said, I won't belabor the point. I'll just link this in case you care to read it... Sometimes I just wish we could all use the same language -...

Well marks... I see you don't care to move ahead. I accept Colossians 3:1...it's YOU that seems not to. I explained why in my previous post...do you read in context, or do you just read the parts you like? What does verse 1 state about seeking God? Do you seek Him only once? What instruction...
