How bad can a Bible translation be before we may say clearly that it deviates from God's Truth? For me it raises an old question, which I have thought was resolved in myself about the Word of God versus the unread writings of men. Do you understand my meaning?

But, his children who died in chapter 1 were still dead at the end of chapter 42. New children born do not replace those who have died! Ask any parent who has lost a child he loved! A few months ago in Oklahoma a young family of four were caught in a fire in their own home. The mother and son...

What you are describing is the Way to Truth! Most everyone who sees God and/or His Son at all sees as through a glass darkly. As you already know some describe their current vision as if it were unflawed and clear. They have closed their minds and hearts to the possibility that they might be...

What is it, this "substance"? Manna? What is it? "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Heb 11:1 Here is the 'substance' of our hope, that is, our faith, is it not? But... where are the "eyes to see" it? Can our eyes be properly anointed so as to see...

Welcome to the forum and give God the glory indeed!

Kind of like this... "They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham" John 8:39 They were the children of his physical blood, but spiritually they missed the Way... And then for any who refuse to...

No argument with you, but for the sake of other readers here consider this... Do you suppose the apparent winning of an argument with another man standing on either side of an issue will ultimately matter to God? The translation cited does seem to add to and change the meanings of some words...

Have you never known one? I recall my pastor's wife in her months of physical life. She was suffering from pancreatic cancer from what I have heard and read one of the most painful ways to live and die. Yes, she knew months before that she was dying but she never changed her routine of attending...

If we stumble and even if we fall, your OP words are key: Just don't give up! That is, don't give up on God and His Son!

@My Dreams Praying with you and for you!

Who can pray and thereby help anyone? "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16 Can someone sick in body and poor in material riches be righteous and pray fervently?

Praying now!

Oh yes, even though at the time we were not serving God, God knew what was in our future and kept his Hand on us in spite of some bad times. Give God the glory!

I was no personal witness to such, but I heard the same rumor.

But with all of that... still, What a Mighty God we serve!

Good to see you here again, Scott!

@The End Is Nigh Welcome to the forum!

Give God the glory!

I hear you loud and clear on this. Unfortunately people who do not understand are watching and put the blame on the whole group for the errors of one or a few. I had a friend in the church who fell from a scaffold at work and was seriously disabled. He qualified for Social Security Disability...

Working for the Social Security Administration in the United States I saw far too much of that. Some people in the church tried to take advantage of me because of my job. Being a soft touch they often used up my personal time to no avail since I could not change the rules for them or anyone...
