"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

Is that what I said?? The church will use Trent when it suits it. But many things have changed since Trent...I don't believe we're to use Trent as a marker, this is what I meant. Trent might still be valid, and, it might not -- depending on what is being spoken of.

Proof: You were only forgiven of your past sins!

You sure do know a lot about where heaven is and where hell is. Is this taught by calvinist teachers? How could they be sure what or where it is?

The anti-Christ is someone who is against Jesus. We have here the most Protestant Pope ever... And the most liberal.

I beg to differ. I site remarrieds and communion. I know, you're going to say this isn't a doctrine. WHAT!!!

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

I've more than "looked" at the CCC. ONLY the footnotes that they NEED to use refer to the council of Trent. A lot of scripture is used to. And a lot of Papal bulls. I'm not naiive or gullible...I just like the truth. The church is not the church of the 1500's. Things have changed even from...

    Against Gnosticism

Thanks. You're talking about the sin nature in man. Very well explained... I wonder if you saw this thread I posted... Sin, Transgression, Iniquity. All the same? Discussion in 'Christian Apologetics Forum' started by GodsGrace, Sep 14, 2018. It also speaks about how the law exposed sin.

    Against Gnosticism

You seem to be contradicting yourself here... I agree with the blue, but get lost with the green. Please comment on the LAW and that it is this law that causes men to sin... (sorry I can't read the whole thread and this may have been answered already).

So only born again Christians are going to heaven?

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

Oh. As to charity,,, of course the N.T. teaches charity in the sense that you state. But the literal translation is love... Faith, Hope and Charity. Which will we still have in heaven? Not faith, it will not be necessary. Not hope, it will not be necessary. But charity will be present even in...

She did support other religions, this is true. We can't know each person's heart. Are you saying that no Hindu will be in heaven?

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

Charity in the bible means LOVE, not doing a lot of charity work. As to that FIL of yours, yes, it's no use doing a lot of works if one is not saved. Works only count AFTER we're saved -- they will not save us. The best atheists do plenty of charity work. Mother Teresa. Some preach the...

Much misunderstanding here Mary! I went to Mass even after I became born again. I still go to Mass now every now and then. There were song books in the pews back in NY but not bibles. This might have been different in different catholic churches...I went to St. Rita's in Astoria and St. Mel's...

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

I see. I would agree with your first sentence about blind faith and agree that many have faith and know nothing about the bible. It would, however, be necessary to know exactly what he meant by this. He might mean a faith that leads to nothing... no changed life. I hate to assume what others...

Hi Mary, I have to say that regarding the bible being forbidden to be read, as Episkopos stated, he really happens to be right. I'm not speaking about the U.S. --- I don't know what went on there. I know that when I met up with our Lord back in the 70's (in NYC) it was not ENCOURAGED to read...
