NO! I meant that WHILE Jesus was on Earth, and Yahweh was in heaven, Yahweh was STILL the Father...thus Jesus' Father. Many point to how Jesus referred to Yahweh as Father to show that He was only the Son and not Yahweh. I don't think this works because when Jesus was here, He was, after all...

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

Do you suppose Protestantism is the way it was 500 years ago? Do you think it hasn't evolved? Luther believed in the Real Presence. He was Catholic, after all ! I don't hear the CC saying that one must receive communion to be saved... I know that it's a sacrament that offers grace; all the...

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

I doth protest E, I read the link quicky, but I have to say that it's referring to the Council of Trent. 500 years ago. I asked two priests I know and they said the Mass does NOT sacrifice Jesus again. If THEY don't know, I can't say who would... The Mass is a remembrance of the sacrifice of...

"Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Faith" - Has 500 Years Taught Us Nothing?

I agree with all you've said...I just want to clarify that it IS faith that saves us...no amount of works can save us without faith... After we have faith, then faith is no longer enough and all you've said holds true. Once we believe, we are required to obey God or we have a dead faith.

Just two points and then that's it. 1. It doesn't matter that the Apostles spoke Greek...I understand this concept very well being able to speak two languages fluently and another one slightly and one dialect, which I consider to be a different language. They still had the CONCEPT of Jesus...

In the O.T. the Spirit was spoken of as the Spirit of God. When Jesus said it was good for Him to go away so that the comforter could come,,,what did He mean? Why would He have said that if the Spirit of God existed even in the Old Testament? Perhaps Jesus meant it in a new way, a more "real"...

I lived in NYC. The Catskills look like the mountains by you. And there's nothing like fall in the Northeast and probably the Southeast too, although I've never seen it. Here the trees just give up and die!

Hi B, In post no. 277 you said this to @Marymog : I could give you one glaring example where tradition has done that... Even your own church admits it, making the church the ultimate authority over scripture. I'd be very interested to which dogma you're referring... IOW, what is the CC...

You understand this metaphorically. God has shown you a deep way to understand something. I do want to say that when God gives us personal revelation, it should be presented as such. Some revelation is not for everyone,,,,not because it's wrong, but because they would t understand. @Marymog and...
