Where did they invent that I AM is some name of God?

The VOICE translation encapsulates this attribute of God as the name for him, the Eternal. :)

Where did they invent that I AM is some name of God?

You can't answer a question with a question.

What benefit does it produce to make Jesus God

No sir. Have you been sealed by the Holy Spirit? Has the Holy Spirit communicated directly to you? Have you had such supernatural experiences that you can share? I have. The communication is like telepathy. It is not my thoughts in my head. Even the pattern of communication was different than I...

What benefit does it produce to make Jesus God

Yes. @RLT63 is convinced we are wrong, that in ONLY refers to Jesus.

What benefit does it produce to make Jesus God

Wow. Very provincial to say such a thing. The Bible is NOT a technical and literal manual in entirety.

What benefit does it produce to make Jesus God

There is the point of departure. The Bible was written by men (inspired by God). These men spoke a human language with manners of speaking. These manners of speaking is highly figurative.

Yes, in part Discernment. The Song of Songs is obviously poetry.

Where did they invent that I AM is some name of God?

Where do you get the idea that the name of God changes depending on what group of people are referenced?

    It is Finished

Just a thorn in my side as I speak 21st American - not 16th century King’s English.

    It is Finished

I’m not so sure. A sermon once delved into NATURAL consequences as additional to divine consequences. The destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD by the Roman’s was a natural consequence of their recalcitrance and cold-heartedness. The difference, I compare to the plagues of Egypt, where it was...

Oh God! Not Middle English references.

What benefit does it produce to make Jesus God

Blatant Appeal to Ignorance. You are trying to change the burden of proof and suppose if I cannot convince you it applies to Person X, it must apply to your idol. No. For 700 years Hebrews recognized this verse as not being prophetic. 1100 years after Isaiah wrote the text, trinitarians decided...

What benefit does it produce to make Jesus God

Your interpretation of the Bible is wrong. Aren’t the words of the verse that the child will be called these things? Recognizing people say Donald Trump will be re-elected is not quite the same thing as narrating such an event. See the difference?

What benefit does it produce to make Jesus God

Because they have an idol that has no explicit Biblical teaching. The only way they can generate "support" is by demanding certain expressions be interpretted in a way that appears to give life to their idol. Like @RLT63 reliance in Post 2564 of an Isaiah passage referring to a child born in...

Good Friend, Victim of Elderly Abuse

Not yet. I'm just beginning the process.

Where did they invent that I AM is some name of God?

But God never said 'my name is Jesus.' He actually said his name was something other than Jesus - to be remembered for all generations. I guess that means little to trinitarians. You say it is Jesus. That must be it, especially since you laced it with all true Christians say this is the case.

Where did they invent that I AM is some name of God?

4th century trinitarians to make a desperate connection to what Jesus said. Fact is, neither said the great I am.

What benefit does it produce to make Jesus God

Well, it goes without saying that one ought not approach learning what God's word is lightly. Jesus spoke in parables. Obviously, these were all figurative. Also, I am reading the Complete Jewish Bible now. The author chose to write in one column to emphasize just how much of the OT is poetry...

What benefit does it produce to make Jesus God

The Bible is a highly figurative book. Today I read in the NRSV how God told Abraham his descendants will be as the dust particles on Earth - if they could be counted. I recall reading OT about the Wrath of God. In one verse, he said he would destroy all of Israel so not one survives. Just a...

Good Friend, Victim of Elderly Abuse

I'm too exhausted to go into all the details now. My 87-yo friend lost his wife last year and had his daughter move in with him this Spring. Now he regrets it and is a bit despondent, not sure what options he has now. The abuse is emotional/psychological right now. A variety of head games. To...
