The Work of Faith: Hope of Salvation

LOL Yeah. But it's good anyway. Yes. Many rabbit trails. Sometimes you answer a poster and it's been answered 53 times already! And if you answer the last poster, it may not even be what the thread is about! It's all good. Nice to see you again.

The Work of Faith: Hope of Salvation

If we are created by God, we are children of God. We are made in His image. We have some of His attributes. Children have the attributes of their parents. They are children of their parents. Then, as some point, children must decide to pick up THEIR responsibility and become sons or...

Oh. Well we should belong to a church. Small c. We need the fellowship. We need to be with others that believe as we do. Jesus said so. He started a life pattern, a way to live, but He also started a church. At the Last Supper He instituted the Mass. At the home of one of the disciples on...

OK. I know what you mean. But WHO originally convinced my brain if I had never read the bible? Eventually, in life, we DO have to come to some conclusion of what we believe. For instance, I believe salvation can be lost if we abandon God and go on about our secular business and sinful life...

Your mother was Catholic. She's most probably in heaven, I do believe. She did what she was taught by her church. As far as what you've said above, you believe that one cannot lose their salvation. You sound sincere and I will not debate this with you unless a thread is specifically for that...

I think he means that we need to know God and not the bible.... How does one reject ALL doctrine??? It's so difficult to discuss spiritual matters. We don't all have the same language.

I think what you're saying is that some worship the bible more than God. If that's what you're saying, then, yes, I do agree. Some people hang on to every word as if God sat at a computer and wrote that bible Himself. We should get, from the bible, a general idea of what God wants from us and...

The Work of Faith: Hope of Salvation

Actually, mj is right. We are all God's children. We're here because of Him. But we are not all God's sons. We have to want to be a son and choose God over the enemy. Fun coming into a thread in the middle of it. I don't know what's going on !!

What's a spiritual dog? Are you speaking about the Samaritans? And how they mixed the Jewish religion with that of Mesopatania?

Jesus said the gate is narrow and few there be that find it. It's not so easy as some believe either. Then I'm called a worker, but I'm not. Jesus said we are to do what He commanded. He commanded a lot.

I do remember that we used to argue about this when I had first come to this forum. I still have a problem understanding what you mean. YOU certainly seem to be well-versed !

As long as it's a running joke, it's OK. Getting mad every now and then is very human. We are, after all, humans. I thinky think.

You're sounding dangerously like a calvin type person. I believe we are children of God for as long as we want to be. He doesn't force us. Discipline? Yes. It seems to come naturally when we don't adhere to God's rules. I THINK I agree with you. (except for the calvin part)

You explained to me once what a codependent is. I FORGET!! What's TMI? Am I an emotional vampire????? I don't think so.

Yeah. When I'm speaking to Catholics (everybody here) I say that I'm a believer because they think they're Christian too. Yeah. Christian could be the way someone is brought up to. But they don't believe. Maybe believer is a better word??

I'm told I'm very open and friendly. The other way is to be cold. I wouldn't go around telling everybody my personal business, but I do think we should be warm to one another. You would find here (I don't know for sure about the states. I think persons are warmer down south there too) that...

Interesting. Maybe she was following some formula and wasn't really a Christian but she thought she was. It's like love. You think it's love till you find real love, then and only then can you see the difference. I wonder if this is what persons mean when they say someone is a "true...

Amen. I like that you put as by our actions in parenthesis. Yes, even when we wish our children would go away for 24 hours, we don't really tell them to. I guess this is what you mean. Important point ! And, as such, God sees our intent more than our mistakes. My parents made mistakes like...
