    What constitutes the Church?

No - this is a linguistic matter. YOUR problem is that when you are presented with the linguistic facts - you simply turn a blind eye and ignore them. Good luck with that.

    Co- Redemptrix

In other words - you couldn't address my post #32, so you descended into making stupid wise cracks. That's what I thought . . . Next time - if you don't have a valid answer - just admit it and move on.

    What constitutes the Church?

This is completely false. According to Thayer's Greek Lexicon and Strong's Exhaustive Greek Concordance - "Cephas", the transliteratioon of the Aramaic "Kepha" simply means "ROCK". It doesn't mean "hollow" Rock or "small" Rock or "pebble" or anything else. It means "ROCK."

Hmmmm, so exposing lies is "evil"?? That's a pretty warped view.

It's not about how many works. It's about faith being absolutely null and void without them.

    Co- Redemptrix

It's not about working FOR Salvation. It's understanding what FAITH is. You obviously don't. There is NO faith without works - and works are worthless without faith. They go hand in hand. It's a double-edged sword. Remember - even the demons believe in God and tremble - but they are NOT...

    What constitutes the Church?

We already covered this. Jesus didn't speak Greek to Simon. He spoke Aramaic. What Jesus actually said to Simon was "You are Kepha and upon this Kepha, I will build my Church. There is no distinction in Aramaic with Kepha. It simply means ROCK. "Cephas" is simply the closest Greek...

    Baptism

I was just schooling you on the linguistic facts about the word "Adelphos" because you don't seem to have a clue about it. Nobody's trying to improve on God . . .
  9. BreadOfLife

    What constitutes the Church?

Wrong. As I stated before - every translation puts the period at the end of verse 15, indicating that it is the CHURCH that is the pillar and foundation of truth - and not the "the mystery of godliness" in verse 16. Yours is just another opinion that further splinters the Church - to the tune...

    What constitutes the Church?

You won't debate it because it's a losing proposition. the Scriptures are clear on this matter. You have to explain why Paul referred to Peter as "Cephas." As a matter of fact - you will have to explain why WE refer to Simon as "Peter." While you're at it - explain why the Early Church...

What does Our Savior consider Idolatry

Another evasive dodge. Either present your definition of "Living Stones" or admit that you stuck your foot in your mouth again . . .

Don't just read PART of the Scriptures to formulate your doctrines. This is where you get into trouble. Read what James was saying in CONTEXT: James 2:21-24 Was not Abraham our father justified by WORKS when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? You see that faith was active along with his...

Ummmm, that's NOT what Scripture says . . . Matthew 23:37 Luke 13:34 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were NOT WILLING. Paul calls us...

What does Our Savior consider Idolatry

I already did in post #372, remember?? I gave the Scriptural definition of Christ's Church. YOU said that I needed to include the term "Living stones" - yet YOU couldn't define it. Getting a little confused, are you?

    Baptism

As I schooled you before . . . In Scripture - "Adelphos(oi)" is applied to cousins, uncles, nephews and kinsmen alike. The Aramaic word, “ach”, encompasses the meanings for brother of same parents, half-brother (same father), relative, kinship, same tribe, and even a fellow countryman...

    Baptism

I've done nothing BUT provide Scriptural evidence for my position. NONE of you have countered with any relevant verses. Just evasiveness . . .

What does Our Savior consider Idolatry

Another evasive and irrelevant response . . .
  18. BreadOfLife

    What constitutes the Church?

Gotta disagree with you again. Simon was the "Rock" - not his confession of faith. As you know, the Lord said to Peter, “And so I say to you, you are Peter (Petros), and upon this rock (Petra) I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” You say...

    What constitutes the Church?

I'm sorry you disagree with 1 Tim. 3:15-16 but your rendering is incorrect. Every translation puts the period at the end of verse 15, indicating that it is the CHURCH that is the pillar and foundation of truth - and not the "the mystery of godliness" in verse 16. Finally - you're right about...

What does Our Savior consider Idolatry

It's not God's written word that contains nonsense. It's in your evasive responses.
