Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

You've read the viewpoint of the opposition or of the majority, but you tend to forget that when Jesus walked the planet as a man, the majority of the people who had seemingly been chosen as God's people took their hands off of him and he was standing alone or almost alone when they led him to...

And also nice to meet you. I also don't come here to argue or to win debates. If I help someone get closer to God or someone helps me, was it not worth the effort? People have made the Bible as if the book itself were something alone. It really is not. A Bible put on a shelf 50 or a 100 years...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

Yes, the letter of the written word, which while it remains in the Book alone will never be the Word of God. Bibles are not alive. The Word is Alive. The Word is Life. The Word is Jesus. But the Word also lives in a measure in people. I say in a measure because for us it is not yet finished...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

All Christendom? In Acts a small group of people receive the gift. How many Jews [Israelites, Hebrews] were there at that time? Did all of them hear Jesus? Did all of them follow as they were led to the upper room of Acts chapter 2? As to what happened in the early 1900's don't presume to...

The unquickened scripture is NOT the Word of God no mattered what man wrote it down even if he was under God's inspiration when he wrote it.

If there is a division, God did not cause it. Men did. Those who cause division from God are in error, but until we know God's position we should all have a care in being too critical of others.

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

Time in the Bible can be a good thing, but in the wrong spirit, it will kill in the sense of murder which is not good: "Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life But if the ministration of...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

If a person purposely ignores scripture when he knows it is supposed to apply to him, then quenching the Spirit is likely involved. As to extra-biblical revelations, in spite of your alleged personal experience, you can only definitely speak for yourself and if you are wrong in that you are also...

I am glad that you have such confidence that you never stumble or misunderstand. I won't judge you on what you have claimed. That ultimately is between you and God.

    Paul And The Law

Most leaders perhaps, but are there not likely to be a few exceptions of leaders allowing themselves to be properly led much of the time. Leaders may have extra responsibilities as per their calling by God, but this does not leave everyone else with nothing to do. Each person needs to hear what...

    Understanding The HolySpirit

Well you pray about it and at least consider what I have said. I don't claim to have all of the right answers by any means.

    Is your tattoo faith based?

The flesh is always a problem for those who have not yet overcome it. The pictures you displayed on this thread with tatoos would be offensive to some... so then what? "Abstain from all appearance of evil." I Thess 5:22 If we need to cover up the flesh, wherein is the witness of which you...

    Understanding The HolySpirit

You may do that and many people do, yet do you have an answer as to why atheists read the Bible without understanding and why believers disagree and often even contradict one another using the same scriptures? People very often follow the lead of other people without checking in with God. Other...

Did people receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues? Or did they speak in tongues ....?

How many times is it necessary for Jesus to touch us in order to receive a complete healing and revelation from God? "And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up...

If they do , then many of them are successful at quenching the Spirit even though the Apostle Paul has warned us: "Quench not the Spirit." I Thess 5:19

    Understanding The HolySpirit

Self-evident from the Word of God! But not self-evident from the Bible! This is why I always hesitate or avoid calling the Bible the Word of God. The Bible is like Jesus hanging dead on the cross. Once he died, he did not speak any more. While his flesh lived, when he spoke it was always God's...
