It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

Then which “scholars” are you talking about who translated the Scriptures did so by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Frankly - I've never even heard any Protestant scholars or historians make this claim. The only ones who were "inspired" were the writers of the Bible. Martin Luther, Ulrich...

It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

So, you won’t answer the questions I asked because you feel they’re “loaded”? I think they are valid questions. They were asked in sincerity and I’m not playing a game. If the position that Mary had other children is so Scripturally sound – they why don’t the Early Church writings show any...

It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

I don't hate anybody - least of all, Protestants. 9 of my 12 siblings are Protestants. I have no use for liars and charlatans like the cult leaders over at your aggressivechristianity.net.

It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

Would you care to explain this absolutely moronic claim??

    The unforgiveable sin ?

WRONG. The people in Matt. 7:21-23 are told by Jesus - "I NEVER knew you." This means that they are NOT getting in - and, this passage DOES talk about the "Day". You really need to study the Gospel - especially parables, such as parable of the Ten Virgins (Matt. 25:1-13).

Why do they hate being called Christians

I don't think it's "smug" - it's just the Rite of the leadership of the Church. As for Rites being "denominations" - that's not the case either because doctrinally, we're the same. There are differences in discipline and traditions (small "T")

Why do they hate being called Christians

The Alexandrian and Byzantine are Groups or "Families" of Rites that include the Melkite, Ruthenian, Slovak, Ukranian, Coptic Abyssinian, etc. Your list is incomplete.

Why do they hate being called Christians

Actually - that's not true. I've had this conversation on MANY threads that you have been a part of. If you understood that there are 20 Rites that make up the Catholic Church - then you might stop referring to the "Roman" Catholic Church and simply say the "Catholic Church" when speaking of...

It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

Then why are you looking for His truth in a man made organization established a mere 37 years ago, hmmm?

Why do they hate being called Christians

I always do my homework - unlike YOU.

It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

Ummmmm, THIS coming from a person who belongs to the cult of "aggressivechristianity.net" which was founded in 1980. That's almost 2000 years AFTER Jesus built his Church . . .

It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

See posts #47 & #71 which obliterate your argument about Matt. 1:25. No "ad hominems" - just the facts.
  13. BreadOfLife

It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

And if you think Matt. 1:25 is rock-solid evidence that Mary and Joseph had sexual relations - you are simply showing that you don't understand the text. You are applying your 21st century English logic to a culture that spoke Aramaic and Greek 2000 years ago. The word "Until" doesn't always...

    The unforgiveable sin ?

And, as I educated you before - when the Bible speaks of the"DAY" of the Lord - it is talking about the Day of Judgment (Joel 2:1-2, Malachi 4:5, Acts 17:30-31, 1 Cor. 1:81, Thess. 5:2,2 Thess. 2:2, 2 Pet. 3:10, Jude 1:6).

Why do they hate being called Christians

And you enjoy your "aggressivechristianity.net" day with your unbiblical "Generals" . . .
  16. BreadOfLife

Why do they hate being called Christians

AGAIN - it says "Roman" Catholic church in front to let people know if the RITE, which is Latin (Roman). There's a church down the street from my house that says "Melkite Catholic Church". Melkite is one of 20 RITES, as I have explained, ad nauseam to deaf ears. I have no problem with the term...

It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

Hegiseppus was born at the early part of the 2nd Century. We know that Ignatius of Antioch was a student of John the Apostle. Polycarp was a student of Ignatius and was a contemporary of Hegiseppus. I don't think it's far-fetched at ALL to think that Hegiseppus learned from Polycarp about...

Why do they hate being called Christians

The term "Roman Catholic Church" was first applied to the Catholic Church based in Rome during Henry VIII's England. He broke away from the church and called HIS sect, "The Catholic Church of England" and the Church based in Rome, "The Roman Catholic Church." The official title of the Catholic...
  19. BreadOfLife

It is not in the bible.....sola scripture

How so? How does this show that they are Mary's children? Why couldn't they be Joseph's children from a previous marriage , as the 2nd Century historian Hegiseppus claimed? Why does EVERY Early Church Father disagree with your point of view? What did they have to gain from lying about this?
  20. BreadOfLife

Why do they hate being called Christians

Uh-huh - and "Roman" refers to the RITE of Catholicism, NOT the name. It is actually the LATIN Rite, which is sometimes called "Roman". There are 20 Rites of the Catholic Church that are ALL in communion with the Pope, such as the Melkite Rite, Byzantine Rite, Coptic Rite, Alexandrian Rite and...
