    Reason for The Crusades explained

@Armour of God, Is Islam the religion of peace? Is Christianity the religion of peace? Are neither of them the religion of peace? Is there any such thing as the religion of peace? Should there be the religion of peace?

Is there a particular book of the Bible that you read more often than others?

For me it would be the book commonly called “The Bible in miniature” -> Isaiah. Why? Because of its focus on the coming messianic kingdom.

    QUOTE for the day

“He says that the very hairs of our head are all numbered. That’s the measure of the loving interest and special concern which God, as our Father, takes in us.” - Martyn Lloyd-Jones

    Reason for The Crusades explained

I’m well-read on the subject of the Crusades. (Among other things, I’m a retired adjunct college professor. And among the variety of subjects I taught is Church history.) It isn’t about me feeling better. It’s about obeying the teaching of Jesus and the apostles.

    Reason for The Crusades explained

Then a case could be made that the Crusaders killed and died for them. Muslims around the world are converting to Christianity. @Debp has some threads discussing it. My family origin is European. They were Protestants and famous in England for a number of reasons, including a rebellion...

    Reason for The Crusades explained

Are you Roman Catholic? Would no one living in your parents’ country follow Jesus if it was an Islamic state?

    Reason for The Crusades explained

Christians killing Christians. That’s not something Jesus of Nazareth would be pleased with his followers doing. It’s certainly not what he instructed his followers to do.

    Reason for The Crusades explained

I haven’t asked @Armour of God if he thinks the pope(s) who are connected with the Crusades acted “so you can be here, living in good times, peacefully, not fighting any war, not under any oppressed governments, not under Islamic regimes, practicing your religion, safely displaying your beliefs”...

    Reason for The Crusades explained

He will. “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” I grew in wisdom and knowledge from hearing @Armour of God tell me what he really thinks. I appreciate that he took the time to do so. He caused me to think, and I thank him for that.

    Reason for The Crusades explained

I understand much more than you think I do. The Crusaders didn’t kill for me, nor did they die for me.

    QUOTE for the day

“Christianity explains why human beings matter.” - John Lennox

    Reason for The Crusades explained

    I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t. I would.
  14. Matthias

    Reason for The Crusades explained

You don’t know that. I would be wherever God wanted me to be. They would have killed me, a believing Jewish monotheist, on sight, just as they killed unbelieving Jewish monotheists on sight. They raped, tortured, killed and plundered Muslims, Jews, Byzantine Christians and even fellow Roman...

    Reason for The Crusades explained

@Armour of God would you say that the phrase “harmless as doves” is an appropriate description of Muslims? Would you say that the phrase “harmless as doves” is an appropriate description of the Crusaders? Would you say that the phrase “harmless as doves” is an appropriate description of the...

    Reason for The Crusades explained

The Crusaders imposed terror on Muslims, as well as on Jews and Byzantine Christians. Imposing terror on those who impose terror on you isn’t the teaching of Jesus and the apostles, nor was it their practice.

    Reason for The Crusades explained

Yes, but not with the weapons of the world.
