Were Jesus's brothers born of another woman?

Thank you for reading my post. We discussed this a couple of weeks ago. While considering how to reply to this post of yours, I recalled your posts, #796 and #799 in particular. In light of these facts, I’ve decided that the wise course for me at this time is “steady as she goes” with what I...

Were Jesus's brothers born of another woman?

From my X / Twitter “For you” feed yesterday (which I finally got around to checking a few minutes ago.) ”You should know this as Catholic “ https://x.com/vitus_oss/status/1868381793554231371?s=61 ”And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” (Luke 1:43...

    QUOTE for the day

“Doctrine doesn’t just motivate discipleship. Doctrine ‘is‘ discipleship. To be a disciple (discipulus, mathetes) is to be a learner in the school of Christ. Contemplating, internalizing, and passing on sound (= healthy, life-giving) doctrine is what it means to follow Christ.” - Luke Stamps

    The happy thread

No. I’m a human person. ;) My deceased cats and dog could vouch for me if they were alive today and not acting contrary. (I’m supremely confident that the dog would come through for me. The cats? Well, that’s a firm maybe.)

What did Christ mean saying, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Here I stand. Awaiting the tome of @asoul. I‘ll decide what to do with after it’s delivered. My final word on it for the time being is that I’ve attempted to convey to him accurate information about his audience, me; and I appreciate that he cares enough about me (and about the subject matter)...

    God begets God?

“We are a Trinity believing forum” - a recent (12/06/24) public communication to all members of Christianity Board from an administrator. I’m a Jewish monotheist (and everyone should know that Jewish monotheism is strict unitarianism) who believes that a fellow Jewish monotheist (Jesus of...

    God begets God?

Thanks. I’ve seen it. It’s located in a forum that I can read but am not allowed to post. (I’m satisfied with that arrangement. The less tolerant among the trinitarians are pleased with it, too. The more tolerant among them don’t care one way or the other. It’s a Win-Win solution all the way...

What did Christ mean saying, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

From a distance, and with limited interaction between us, you shape up from what I’ve observed in your posts to myself and others as a conversationalist, not a lecturer. That‘s my impression. That’s how I see you shaping up. To know you better I would have to learn more about you, from you, and...

    God begets God?

I see this evening that my advice was rejected and a new analogy has been offered, in another thread, for the Trinity. The analogy used teaches modalism, which is a form of unitarianism, not trinitarianism. If I (a Jewish monotheist) had done that, trinitarians would have objected strenuously...

What did Christ mean saying, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

I do. There is an audience setting where lectures are appropriate. What I’ve found most effective in my personal experience with the average person on “certain subjects that can’t be spoken of in brief” is covering it, all of it, via dialogue.

What did Christ mean saying, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

In that case I would say follow your conscience in the matter. Do what has worked best for you in your experience. When I speak or write I want people to pay attention, just as you do. I find that is more likely to happen when I keep it brief. I approach it as a dialogue opportunity - I was a...

What did Christ mean saying, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Back in the days when I was a college student, the professor handed out a two-panel cartoon to us in his preaching class. In the first panel the preacher is saying, “In this morning’s sermon I will be sharing with you 25 reasons why …”. In the second panel the eyes of the congregation are...

What did Christ mean saying, God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Thank you for taking the time to write to me. I’m sorry that it was accidentally lost. I typically don’t read or reply to long posts. If you want me to read it - and I think you do - breaking it up, reducing it in size, giving it to me in short parts - I would appreciate it. A long post comes...
