    The Commandments of Jesus Christ

The staff of this site is not creating or encouraging any loony-tune postings. This site does not permit a single member to have multiple accounts. The claim that DPMartin is making about this site is unfounded.

    Fear of HELL

Uh, the Old Testament speaks of Sheol, which is the grave. The New Testament speaks of Gehenna, which is a place of fire. In one place, the New Testament mentions Tartarus, which is a region of Hades. The New Testament routinely mentions Hades, which in ancient Greek culture was the final...

What Bible Translation are you using?

To me, no particular English version is a must, because no English version is the standard for comparison ... not even the KJV.

    PCUSA Losing Another

I would like to clarify a few things. First, the Presbyterian Church (USA) is not THE Presbyterian Church in the USA, because other Presbyterian denominations in the USA pre-date the PC(USA). For example, the Presbyterian Church in America has been in existence much longer than the PC(USA)...

    Hello.

As a widower, I'm not a hymn seeker. Instead, I am a "her" seeker. :P

What required for going to Heaven?

If you are going to argue that you must keep the commandments in order to go to Heaven, then I expect you to keep all 613 commandments that are in the Torah. That's right. There are 613, not just 10.

    Another fulfilled prophecy

Uh, that passage does not identify what exactly is the treasures hid in sand, and it does not identify the sand as being in a desert. It could be sand located along a coastline. Verse 24 refers to bathing of feet in olive oil.

Personal preference, what you were taught, lack of interest?

We also need to keep in mind that the Old Testament makes use of ancient Hebrew cosmology

    Forgery in the Bible

So, if a scribe who lived after the apostolic era felt "inspired" to add something to the Bible, then that is acceptable to you?

Personal preference, what you were taught, lack of interest?

Folks, the book of Genesis isn't a Science text and was never intended to be a Science text. A modern-day, western, ethnocentric interpretation of Genesis 1 isn't required in order to accept the reality of the death, burial and resurrection of the Savior Messiah Jesus.

    Forgery in the Bible

If a story wasn't put in the Bible by biblical authors, but rather was put in after the apostolic era by an unknown scribe, then what evidence do we have that the story is valid?

    Creationism in science class rooms

What should be taught in a Science class: It is a violation of the rules of Science to require empirical data and scientific theories to conform to the words of a religious text.

What required for going to Heaven?

Retrobyter, Webers is referring to your tendency to put lengthy Bible quotes in your posts, as if the more words the better. Your posts come across as being very wordy but with little that is substantial.

    Faith Healing

Folks, one isn't showing a lack of faith by seeking the help of a physician. Modern-day medicine (including surgery) is another of God's gifts to Mankind. The fact that God can provide miraculous healing doesn't mean that He will always choose to provide miraculous healing. Faith and...

should the united states pass laws prohibiting homosexuality

As long as homosexual behavior is rejected for purely religious reasons, it would be unconstitutional to pass laws forbidding homosexual behavior.

Personal preference, what you were taught, lack of interest?

I don't know why, but some people in the USA display pride in the fact that they have no scientific training at a college level. Plus, people are able to become preachers because they are domineering, assertive, loud and forceful, and if such preachers lead cowardly flocks, then those preachers...
