Galatians 5:4 (NASB)
You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You have been severed from Christ......you have fallen from grace”
‘Those that are seeking to be justified by the things that they can muster up in themselves, i.e. those that are trying to be good apart from their faith in Christ....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This scripture is putting forth what is the consequences of living not by faith, but by self-effort.... One loses all the benefits of being joined to Christ by faith... Salvation is not in question here, only the growing and going on to maturity in Christ..

This newness of life spoken of in scripture is at stake... This being conformed to His image, this, the law being fulfilled in you, but not by you... This life of freedom from unrighteousness to a life of righteousness... Only the faith of the heart turned towards Christ constantly can produce such an outcome...

This is what is being put forth in the above scripture... For only walking before God by faith constantly can produce the fruit of faith, which is the manifestation of the doing of righteousness..

This all sounds great, fine and dandy, but the problem is us, we can not keep ourselves before Him in faith, because of our own self-will that wants the this and the that...

But thanks be to God He has made a way through this issue also..

By putting us to death...

This is the faith that overcomes all... One’s faith in their death in Christ...For death frees one from all the power of sin... It is this that that one is severed from, those that are trying to be good in themselves... They are severed from the grace of God in Christ, accessed by the faith of the heart, which faith would do all the living for them if the heart would turn itself to Christ on a moment by moment basis and want to be freed from life itself, if it would make it free from sin... This heart that would willingly die, willingly give up all it’s life rather than sin, this is the heart that will walk in newness of life... This is the heart that will not be severed from Christ, it will not fall from the grace of God by the will of itself, for it has died... For it’s death has freed it into the glorious freedom of the children of God...

Be blessed in such a faith..
