Thank you so much for thinking of me - it’s my 66th birthday ( I accidentally put the wrong year when I registered here ) So in the U.K it means I am officially retired.
last Year was challenging in so many ways, but this year I feel very blessed xx

Didn't the retirement age used to be 65?
In the U.K. it use to be 60 for women and 65 for men. It changed to both being able to retire at 65 between 2010-2018 then it rose to 66 for both between 2018-2020. They plan to change it again between 2026-2028 and it will rise to 67.
I don’t think it will end there !
What is it in the US ?

Gosh-- I don't know. I think they've raised it to 70? I'll have to check.

As a firefighter I had a mandatory retirement age of 60. I started the job at 25.

edited to add the following info>>>

If you were born between 1943 and 1954, your full retirement age is 66.

If you were born in 1960 or later, your full retirement age is 67.
