1 Corinthians 3:4
King James Version (KJV)

4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

1 Corinthians 3:4
GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

4 When some of you say, “I follow Paul” and others say, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting like sinful humans?

My thoughts.

We are not to follow after sinful man but after the sinless Christ Jesus.

Wherefore, I beseech you, be ye followers of me. For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church. (1 Cor. 4:16-17)

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. (I Cor. 11:1)

Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for ensamples. (Phil. 3:17)

Those things which ye have both learned and received and heard and seen in me, do; and the God of peace shall be with you. (Phil. 4:9)

Either the Holy Spirit contradicted Himself when inspiring Paul to write what he wrote in these four passages vs 1 Cor 3:4...or...you are not taking something very important into account. Which do you think is the case?

They were putting their following of man before Christ. Paul was livig as Jesus wanted him to live and this is an example we can follow. Paul was not a sinful man, he was a man who sins were under the blood and he was maderighteous thru Christ.
