The thing that struck me was the way God is portrayed as an old man in the sky. This is false, as God is spirit. It just strengthens the false idea so many people have about God.

I agree, why would GOD be in the likeness of an old man?

No one can or should draw God. we can say that He gave a Commandment not to make any image of Him, since No man has seen God the father why would we even try, also since people tend to venerate images, a big NO NO in God's eyes,

Not sure of myself, but sure that Jesus said:

(Joh 4:24 NKJV) God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."


Paul refers to Jesus Christ by saying:

(Col 1:15) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

If God is invisible, He doesn't "look like" anything. We sometimes sing a hymn which starts:

"Immortal, invisible God only wise, in light inaccessible hid from our eyes."

A drawing or painting is not there to be worshipped. It is not a graven image by definition
