If you're carrying a 1911, isn't the point for it to be seen?

Not for those that want the tactical advantage of the enemy not knowing they are armed.

It's easier to get a bead on someone first before they get a bead on you if they don't know you are armed.

Some people carry as a deterrent and others with that idea.

But if you're going to concealed-carry, you probably want something smaller than a 1911, so as to avoid shooting off important bits of your anatomy.

I think "Truth" is different to an objective fact within the physical world. Such as with empirical sciences. Though it becomes less clear with say psychological facts compared to the hard sciences.

But a truth seems to occupy a transcedent aspect such as morality or experiences and intuition of the world.

I think Christ is talking about a certain truth we conscious humans can sense about our relationships and experiences of the world and especially of others.

They say the eyes are the window of the soul and I think this has something to do with it. Its a bit like agency and free will. We can't scientifically or reductively explain this. Yet we know its real and a truth that we live out. People would die to uphold their free wil as they believe its a truth we all have as humans.

Belief is the same. People die for Christ. They are either deluded or they know that Christ is a truth and reality.

Much of our history comes from lived experiences of the world. The stories and testimonies told about our experiences passed on. Which it seems people took as truth. As though their experiences confirmed what was being told. A sense or knowing about its reality that can only be known through conscious experiences.

Now everything is questioned to the point that people over think and question everything. Which I think came with Enlightenment. Which developed into scientific inquiry and now coming full circle where experiences now trump objective reality.

Except without God this is a human made reality which makes experiences the only reality.

Whatever the 'Truth" is I think it needs to be in harmony with all aspects of life and reality. This can only happen when its grounded in Christ. He is the aspect of reality made flesh which harmonies everything into the absolute truth.

That explanation is so far from: "Truth is", that you have nearly defined the problem completely. I mean, the point is--truth is not at all subjective, any more than "I am" can perhaps be understood as "Well, maybe."

You nailed it!

My trainers were quite clear on that point: Even though open carry is now legal in my state, it's not a good idea. It invites a gun-grab, and if somebody intends to to start a mass shooting event, it's like wearing a t-shirt that says, "Better shoot this guy first".
