Ok. I think we have regressed to a point before simple disagreement of theological concepts - before the annoying habit of setting up strawmen in order to muddy the religion we do not adhere to......now it appear that we cannot even agree on basic English vocabulary.

In a world where 'literally' now means 'figuratively', decadent now means 'tempting', 'faith' means 'reason' and testament can now be translated to mean 'parable' - and the most basic doctrine within Christianity - the Doctrine of the Trinity is either optional or declared to heretical!! Madness!

Look I am not suggesting that we go back to Modernism - a time when we had to fight with secularists over absolute truth - usually having to agree with the biggest jerk on the Christian block just to make sure we were presenting a united front against secularists, but come on! If we can no longer agree on basic words in our native language, we may as well pack up and go home because communication is impossible and we are wasting time talking to ourselves. Is it possible that we have reach such a state of relativism that reading our native language has become an exercise in private interpretation?

I agree with your post, aspen, it's a good topic.

I am not so sure this is such a recent phenomena, is it? We have 1,000's of denominations due to disagreements such as these due to people reading the bible written in English and concluding to their own private interpretation.

yeah, but at least it is a translation from an ancient language! Nowadays our native language is open for debate.

Aspen2, we may not see eye to eye on many things but this principle I most heartily do. :)
