From the New Testament, before the coming of the Lord.
1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of [
a]Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for
that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of [
b]sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4
who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits [c]as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
Of some interest is comparing the context from Isaiah 66. God is very displeased with these people who are sacrificing animals, so their life style and worship is corrupt. They are doing life their way's and not God's way.
The NT verses, speak of a false worship of a false god too. At the time of the end, there may be a false temple of god built and animal sacrifices. It will be called the temple of God, just as the book of Acts still called the Jewish Temple of God, the temple, even though God does not dwell in temples made with hands, just Isaiah 66 states
Thus says the Lord:
“Heaven is My throne,
And earth is My footstool.
Where is the house that you will build Me?
And where is the place of My rest?
2 For all those things My hand has made,
And all those things exist,”
Says the Lord.
To me this shows a definitive link between these chapters.
There are 'Christians' today who desire to see a temple of God built, and say it will happen with animal sacrifices for sins again. They call this Ezekiel's temple. Have you heard of 'Red Heifers' You can read of these things from various 'Chistian' web sites.
Example about the third temple
Gonzales noted that there are additional heifers in Texas as backups for future ceremonies.

And they are very excited and glad thinking this is of God, c
laiming Christ will return to rule on an earthly throne of David and authorize renewed animal sacrifices to God in a rebuilt Ezekiel's temple by a Jewish priesthood.
And that believers with Christ will rule with heavy hands (that rod of Iron) over rebellious unsaved nations with them like avenging angels.
If you see these things begin to happen, then know that Christ has not yet returned but will be very soon, and they have all been deceived into worshipping a false Christ.
The real Christ warns us not to go after the false christ, who will claim he is god, whom Christ says is coming.
Luke 17
20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, [
f]‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is [
g]within you.”
22 Then He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see
it.
23
And they will say to you, [h]‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. 24
For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.
25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26
And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
27
They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; 29 but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed
them all. 30
Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
31 “In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his [
i]goods
are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife. 33 Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34 I tell you, in that night there will be two [
j]
men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left. 35 Two
women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. 36 [
k]Two
men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.”
37 And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?”
So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.”
The body is eaten by the birds, this is in Revelation called the supper of the Great God.
The Beast and His Armies Defeated - Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God,

The ones taken are taken to be destroyed.
The same verse in Matthew 24, calls them CARCASS'
Matthew 24
23 “
Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24
For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.
26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out;
or ‘Look,
He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe
it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28
For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

When Christ returns, the slain of the Lord shall be many.
He will slay all those who do not want Him to reign over them, but they do want a false satanic Christ to reign over them,
Luke 19
The Parable of the Minas
11 Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. 12
Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten [
e]minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ 14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this
man to reign over us.’
15 “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. 16 Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ 17 And he said to him, ‘Well
done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ 18 And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’ 19 Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’
20 “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief. 21 For I feared you, because you are [
f]an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you,
you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. 23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’
24 “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give
it to him who has ten minas.’ 25 (But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’) 26 ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 27
But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’ ”
