What was Paul thinking when he used the phrase “all Israel will be saved?” To answer this question of what Paul was thinking, we have to address three questions. One, how does Paul define “all Israel?” When Paul uses the term Israel or thinks of Israel, he isn’t excluding ethnic Jews, but he’s also not thinking only of ethnic Jews. Rather, he is thinking about the total covenant people of God. When Paul talks about Israel and all Israel, he’s talking about a theological construct. Not an ethnic construct. Israel for Paul is not an ethnic term. It’s a theological term. Why? Because it is tied to the covenant people concept in the Old Testament.

Two, what does Paul mean by the fullness of the nations, the fullness of the Gentiles? And the third, how is the salvation of all Israel and how is it related to the fullness of the Gentiles and what’s the relationship between the two? These three things work together and Paul was angling what the in gathering of the Gentiles have to do with the salvation of all Israel?Romans 11:25 and 26 discuses both ideas in relationship to each other. We can’t talk about all Israel being saved without talking about the fullness of the Gentiles. What does the in gathering, the in gathering of the fullness of the Gentiles again into the family of God? What does that have to do with the salvation of all Israel?

In Romans 9:25-26, Galatians 3, if you are Christ’s, you are Abraham’s seed. Paul is writing to the Galatians who were Gentiles. The whole chapter of Galatians 3 is redefining the children of Abraham to include the Gentiles. In other words, whoever has the faith of Abraham, and everybody who believes, including Israelites, are in the family of God, believers. In Paul’s mind, he’s creating a construct that is inclusive of Gentiles. In Romans 9:6-8, the children of Abraham includes the Gentiles. Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preach the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.”

Those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. Paul is thinking, since we have Jesus, all Israel will be saved, all the people of God, including the Gentiles. The people of God aligned themselves with Yahweh as the God of gods by faith. Their believing loyalty is assigned to Yahweh and no one else. aThe people of God aligned themselves in believing loyalty to Yahweh incarnate now in Jesus Christ, this salvation is tied to the new covenant, the indwelling of the spirit in all who believe. The Gentiles experienced the coming of the spirit in exactly the same way that the Israelites did.

Paul is swapping in the Gentiles to replace the 10 lost tribes, those who were not my people because of believing loyalty. Paul includes the Gentile in the restoration of the people of God, all Israel, because he reads that theology in the Old Testament. Paul is reading that in Hosea. Once the Gentiles come in, all Israel will be saved. Paul’s theological construct does include Gentiles in the 12 tribes. Look at Paul’s wording, it’s a partial hardening on Israel. What Paul’s thinking about is a theological construct, the totality of the people of God, whoever they might be. Believing loyalty.

1)Israel will go through a series of successful judgements that will eradicate all non believing jews and restore faith in the Messiah to the elect jews.( Joel 2:32)

2)Two thirds of Israel will be destroyed by judgement.(Zech 13:8)

3)Half of Jerusalem will be destroyed.(Zech 14:2)

4)The remaining one third elect will cry "blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord" and repent to have faith in Jesus Christ(Matt 23:39)

5)And so all Israel shall be saved (Rom11:26)

6) Jew and Gentile will be united into an everlasting Messianic Kingdom(Eph 2:15-22)

The New Covenant has begun and of course what happens at Pentecost is directly tied back to what Jesus did on the cross and his resurrection. In the Old Testament, prior to the New Covenant, the notion of being elect and being a believer in Yahweh, a follower of Yahweh are actually two separable classes. Now Israel was elect, but that was no guarantee that an Israelite would be saved, or would be a believer, or would be a follower in Yahweh. Is election and salvation synonyms? No, they’re not, they are related concepts, but they are not synonyms. Israel was elect, we see that very plainly in the Old Testament.

We have a lot of elect people who are called Israelites and a significant number of them, apostatize. They worship other gods, and that’s the reason there was an exile. Either you’re going to say that you have Baal worshippers in heaven, you could worship Baal and still be a believer, the story of the exile would suggest dramatically otherwise. Or you have to see election as something that is not synonymous with salvation. What’s going to happen here in the New Covenant is that no longer are you going to have elect and believer in Yahweh be two separable classes.

In the Old Testament, the people of God by definition, the children of Abraham, Israelites, they were elect. A follower, you had to join yourself to the nation of Israel, in effect become a Israelite. You had to be circumcised as a male. You had to go through various rituals, various acts to join the nation of Israel, because that’s how things were defined. The New Covenant people of God is a circumcision neutral body. The body of Christ, it doesn’t matter if you’re Jew or Gentile, all believers are people of God, and by definition, all believers are elect. The New Covenant period, you have an overlapping, the concept of election, someone who’s elect, and someone who is actually a believer in Yahweh. In the Old Testament, you didn’t have that.

So Gentiles, if they believe in the Messiah, if they believe in Jesus, they inherit the Abrahamic covenant. So by definition, they are a believer and they are also elect.

Hello

Sadly, simply ring fencing these two verses without reference to the complete scriptures, has led to much misunderstanding of what Paul was telling us. Too many prophecies lead to fulfil this prophecy when Israel will repent at the beginning of the fifth age of their existence. When Israel repents, God will renew his Kingdom of Priest, a Holy nation and His Possession Among the Nations covenant with the nation of Israel.

My understanding of Romans 11:25b-25 is: -

"When the fullness, with respect to time, of the Gentiles is completed, then, after that, all of Israel will be saved.

This forces us to accept God's planned purposes for Israel and His Church/assembly.

In Luke 4:16-30, this is the scene where Jesus preaches in his hometown in the synagogue. Starting in Luke 4:23, Jesus is harsh with how he responds to these people. Jesus said, You’ve all heard about the things that I have done in Capernaum and other places. Doubtless, somebody here is going to say, physician heal yourself. Let’s see some of those miracles that we heard about in Capernaum, can you do that here. Jesus did do a few things, but he doesn’t do what he could do. Why, because Jesus was just shocked at their unbelief and to dig at them, he said, You know there were lots of widows in the days of Elijah, but only one of them had enough to eat and drink. Only one of them got by, the one from Zarephath. There were lots of lepers in the days of Elisha, but only one of them was healed, Naamon the Syrian.

These people know what these two people have in common, those two people had faith. Jesus is shocked at their unbelief and they get angry. By using these two as examples, Jesus is saying you people are pathetic. They get angry, because what does the widow of Zarephath and Naamon the leper have in common? These two people are pagans, they are Gentiles. Naamon lives in Syria, the widow of Zarephath lives in Sidon, this is Gentile territory. Why is that important, because Jesus picks two people hopelessly cut off from any of the things that would assist them in their salvation.

Take a look at Naaman, he is never going to observe one of the feast days at the Temple. He’s never going to be connected to the sacred calendar of Israel. He’s not getting circumcised either. After Naamon was healed, he goes to Elisha, but he brings nothing to the table, he’s totally empty-handed. Think about it, here’s Naaman theology. Naamon is saying to Elisha, I’m clean now, now I really know Yahweh is the true God of Israel. From this point on, whenever I offer my own little sacrifice, I’m only going to do it to Yahweh, can I take some dirt back with me? But does Elisha jump in and say don’t do that, you got to go to the Temple, you’re not going to do that right?

But Naamon has this question, he has this nagging doubt, I got to be honest with you Elisha. You know, part of my job is I got to go into this temple, this temple of this god who I no longer believe in. I just want to know that when I go in there with the King, and we do our little thing that we’re supposed to do, how does Yahweh feel about that? But what does Elisha say, shalom, go home. We really need to look differently at Faith. Naamon has no work to bring to the table at all, all he’s got is his belief statement, his faith.

Naamon is actually the perfect example, there’s a reason why Jesus endorses him as an example of faith. What counts, Naamon has nothing to bring, he has no single point of merit about him at all. His entire relationship to the true God, to the God of Israel is based on believing. If God looks at two pagans and Jesus endorses this, because he uses them as an example of faith. Then the only thing that matters is whose side are you on? Who is your god? Who do you believe in? Who do you trust? If it’s good enough for these two pagans, why isn’t it good enough for you?

Paul uses Abraham, pre-law, pre circumcision, he’s trying to make the point, it’s by faith. Salvation is by faith, there’s no personal merit and performance has nothing to do with a right relationship to God. Allegiance, there’s never a question in what a believer should believe. We sow what we reap, but as far as our relationship with God, we worship no other. This is what God wants from us, believing loyalty.

I looked at a bigger picture. Jesus has been saving Jews and Gentiles for the last 2000 years. That's all the Israel that will be saved. All into one body of Christ. The Israel here today isn't the Old Testament Jewish people in the Apostle Paul's day. They are a mixed people. Everyone is a Samaritan, which OT Jews hated.

This is a very poor theological writing. The nation of Israel and the Church are two distinct peoples, and will always be. The nation of Israel is made up of those descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. During this Church Dispensation, ethnic Jews can become part of the Church but are no longer Jews. There is neither Jew nor Gentile in the body of Christ. But, there are so many mistaken biblical propositions in this brief letter it would take hours of showing them and setting them straight.

Matthew 4:17, from that time Jesus began to announce, a summary of Jesus’s teaching is in one sentence, Matthew gives it to us, Jesus is announcing, to turn around. In Hebrew, repent is literally “to turn around,” there’s something happening, that requires you to go in a different direction, the kingdom of Heaven has come near. The kingdom of Heaven has touched down right here, right now, you guys need to turn around and pay attention. This is unique to Matthew, Jesus’ message about the Kingdom of Heaven here, is clearly not that it’s somewhere that you go, it’s somewhere that has arrived here.

The OT Jews are the ones who are worthy of the OT !

Now in regard to the followers of the OT 2000 years ago, some were Saved and became Christians !
That means that they who followed the OT were on the correct path ! that will lead to as Holy Moses said would come !

Now one who rejects that Jesus is the Christ, but abides in the OT is Lost in the past, they are like stuck ! stuck in 1st gear going around in circles like a foolish dog chasing it's own tail ! They think that it's them who is bringing in the Kingdom of God !

Then we have the so called Jews, who are just like so called Christians, who regards is not worthy of anything truly but that of their own gods in fact !

Sadly their is no Church denomination nowadays that abides in Christ Jesus in fact ! for they all clearly idolise Mans works !

No worthy Christian Church could stand up and preach Christ Jesus nowadays for speaking the Truth ! is not alwed in fact their are Laws against all such in fact ! and the majority of people will be angered if one speaks the Truth in fact !

The Power of Abortion on demand for one ! you have no rights to questions any such, that has been Stolen ! Lost !
The Power of being Gay is another demand ! you have no rights to question any such, that has been Stolen ! Lost !
And the List goes on and on ! all such an Abomination to God in fact !

They can not enter into the Kingdom of God in fact because the Bible has a List of all who can not enter in fact ! because such does not exist in the Kingdom of God ! and if such does not here on earth, nor in Heaven !
for they love the darkness and fear the Light in fact for their works are clearly Anti-Christ !

To be pure of heart means, that our behavior, that’s observable to others, is doing right by God and doing right by others and that it’s matched completely by our internal lives and motivations that are doing right by God and right by others. We can fake it, while manipulating others, Jesus is putting his finger on that. We need to be connected to our true motivations, that’s the purpose of humanity, the relationship God designed humanity for, doing right by others and generous acts of love. This isn’t just behavior, it’s character, the core character of a person, but depravity, we can overemphasize that to a degree of actually not being faithful to the full portrait of human nature, because humans are a lot more in God’s eyes, than depraved. But that compromised nature is really a big emphasis in the biblical story, because it’s realistic.
