………… in seeing a description (and critique) of American Religiosity, literally all the way through this song? (Especially the scene with the Military Psychiatrist..... starts at about 8:30)

We have scads of songs (both British and American.. and even Australian) that, although I am sure the original writers never intended anything "Religious" or Christian (two opposite concepts, BTW), have a lot of Spiritual connotations in their words..... depending upon whether or not you choose to listen to them with the ear of Jesus. "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" comes immediately to mind.I tried to watch it all but it started to drive me nuts !!
Wonder what that relays !! Lol
I am not sure I even understand what American religiosity looks like - there is probably a British lookalike !

"American Religiosity" is the institutionalized mess we have made of what Jesus originally intended to be little more than "a way of life" that led to the unity of mankind and Salvation. We have made it a mishmash of rules, regulation, and pious procedures.I tried to watch it all but it started to drive me nuts !!

I love that song - and yes I can often hear spiritual connotations in many songs that I listen to - but many of my Christian friends just see them as secular - I prefer to be more open minded XWe have scads of songs (both British and American.. and even Australian) that, although I am sure the original writers never intended anything "Religious" or Christian (two opposite concepts, BTW), have a lot of Spiritual connotations in their words..... depending upon whether or not you choose to listen to them with the ear of Jesus. Oh yes, we have that here, that's part of the reason I left the church ( still part of ' the church ' though - I know you will know what I mean xx )"American Religiosity" is the institutionalized mess we have made of what Jesus originally intended to be little more than "a way of life" that led to the unity of mankind and Salvation. Unfortunately there's a lot of truth in that....The one thing that seems to unite the Protestant/Evangelical churches - their irrational hatred of church.....

That seems to be a circular statement with no apparent meaning.
