An old man in a rocking chair

Phillippians 3:8

8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Have you won Christ, if you have never given Him His place in you, if you have never considered Christ as your life, if you have never acknowledged Him as being in you as a lifestyle you now live, you may not have won Christ. After all you are in control of what you believe to be your life. It is you that's makes the decision to "allow this mind to be in you that was in Christ Jesus."
We love ourselves enough to stop sinning and do alot of good things for God. We are in control, no one takes control of you, you can only surrender control, Paul uses the word "yield."

You can yield to the HolySpirit and He will will teach you Christ, but you are in control. Your old dead life, crucified self that thinks it is so saved and has all the benefits of this heavenly family, has to yield. Most have been successful in yielding their body's, they do not run off and do the things they used to do. That is a member Paul talks about, but so is the mind, it is the main member, the soul-mind has to yield to the HolySpirit to see Christ as your life. The soul-mind controls everything about you now. You should be able to understand now how Christians can be double minded, because we have a choice now.

In the world or unregenerate you had no choice, what you see is what you get so to speak. You had one nature and one mind. Now your born again, you have become one in spirit with Christ, and trying to get your mind renewed to that fact. To say "one with Christ" is an absulute fact in spirit. To say "one with Christ" and act like it takes mind renewal. You can say one thing and do the complete opposite. I'm not saying that is evil, we all do it. I'm saying how we do it, because we have a choice now.

If Christ came and went as some suppose based on lifestlye, we would wear Him out, He would die of exhaustion. Should I stay they are being today, nope that long tongue I'm outa here. Back and forth we go in mind never established to the facts, facts (the gospel) will establish you. If you stay wishie washie in understanding always tossed around you will stay in the schoolhouse, you have not learned Christ Paul would say.

What is the schoolhouse? It is the training ground for the children of the God, the born again. As long as Christ is in you like an old man just sitting in a rocking chair passing time doing nothing, you have not learned Christ. Christ is just patiently waiting, waiting for someone to learn Him and let Him out. Learning Christ is a process, revelation can be instantaneous or for some it is a process. Everyone needs to hear that a revelation of the indwelling Christ exists or they will not know it.

How will I know it's Christ, you will just know. After Paul had his revelation of the indwelling Christ he said "immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood." Galatians 1:15-17

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

17 Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

You will know, no man will have to confirm it to you. Paul didn't go to the apostles before him, he went into the desert. That is where we should be, I believe Paul went into the desert to get the religion out, work on that deep root of law.

Ah...maybe that is a big part of our problem...we immediately run out to confer with flesh and blood. And they give us poison to swallow.

It reminds you of the group of blind men Jesus healed. Only one of them returned to Him.

It also reminds me of His words to one of the churches in Revelation - you have left your first love.

Indeed, this is what happens I believe to too many new converts. They have a real experience with God when they were ignorant, or nearly ignorant, of what God has had written in the scriptures. Before they are able to get really familiar with scriptures or God themselves, men get hold of them and indoctrinate them with whatever denominational ideas are the norm for that place. The only way back is to once again get hold of that first love and keep it at the top [above all of our believed doctrines] where it belongs. First things, first!

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matt 6:33
