Are all sins equal?

There are three aspects to answering this question:

1. In terms of temporal punishment, not all sins are equal, Exodus 21:

23 But if there is harm,d then you shall pay life for life, 24eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
2. In terms of judgment, not all sins are equal, John 19:

11 Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”
James 3:

1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly
3. In terms of eternal judgment and punishment, all sins are equal, James 2:

10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
Romans 6:

23a For the wages of sin is death.

John said (from memory) "I do not say you should pray for all sin, there is some sin leading to death" 1 John 5:16

True. Some sins are worse than others, and fixing the problem is more difficult. We note that in our own lives that the worse we treat someone, the less inclined they are to forgive us when we repent and apologize.
2. In terms of judgment, not all sins are equal, John 19:
I would assume this is true, as well.
10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
This indicates that the Law demands perfection--not that all sins are equal in breaking the Law. They equally have the same effect, however, of violating the covenant of Eternal Life.

The purpose of the Law was precisely that, to show that any case of violating God's command causes any opportunity to have Eternal Life to end. If Eternal Life is to be offered again, it must come not by fallen Man, but rather, by the grace of Christ, the new Man.

If Satan's sin was the same as one who stole a piece of bread because he had no food, would that be justice...I think not.

In terms of punishment....all sins are equal.
All sin must be paid for with death.

In terms of difficulty in repentance....different story.
Lost sheep....sin of ignorance
Lost coin.......sin of negligence
Prodigal son...two sins are discussed
Planned sin and unforgiveness. Unforgiveness being the worst and most difficult to overcome.

Shrewd manager....the amounts of forgiven debts of everyone was equal in value. Where some owed a lot more than others and their debts were almost wiped out. But the forgiven amounts were equal.

Do what you want with the information.

1 Cor 6:9-11, Gal 5:19-21,, both spots teach-Will NOT inherit Gods kingdom( if one practices one of those unacceptable sins. Paul mentions spiritism at Gal, The Greek word = Pharmacia, thus drug addiction is apart of that, so with those 2 lists and all the false god worship on earth = 99% minimum will NOT enter Gods kingdom. Its why Jesus teaches-FEW will find the road that leads off into life( be saved)
He as well compares these last days to Noahs day( 99.9% mislead) Luke 17:26)
One of the biggest problems are the blind guides assuring ones who work iniquity-you are saved and they believe it.

Sin is sin, in its simplest terms, irregardless of how egregious or not it may be, because even the most mundane sin separates one from God.

The reason those lists are there, they are a warning. It begins--don't be mislead by any other teachings. It does not mention a swear word slipping keeping one from inheriting the kingdom, so those are major sins = totally unacceptable. There are other small sins. No sin is good but all do sin. Best NEVER to do one mentioned at 1 Cor 6:9-11, Gal 5:19-21--along with all the false god worship on earth 99% are being mislead and will not inherit Gods kingdom. The blind guides assure those who do some of those sins-You are saved. Usually they are looking for a tithe. Ear ticklers who do not teach truth--No mortal knows who will be saved, just in theory, they cannot read hearts, nor have they ever seen a single name written in Gods book of life. nor do they know who can endure until their end. RUN FROM THOSE who tell you--you are saved.
