More precisely, it's cafeteria Christianity. "Faith only' people legalistically decided that faith is required, but reject God's word, saying that one is justified by works and faith.

God's way is faith and works. They prefer to do it their own way.

Soooooo, if you do good deeds that just means that you make the cross of Christ of none effect. Why did He die if we can "earn" salvation with works??
It's really simple, "good works" are the result of being born of the Spirit.

He changes hearts and minds and tests our obedience by placing us in positions to help, edify and lift up the downtrodden. We will either obey or not. We do not make our "own" good works, He prepares them beforehand. And, they DO NOT SAVE US!!! Jesus Christ's being the last and complete sacrifice is who has saved us.
