This is scripture, but thinking about it I’m not sure I’ve ever heard someone speak concerning quoted scripture(s). Thanks for bringing it up. Something to chew on, ponder before God, for this scripture is written to teach and bring forth a truth. I can see where the correct understanding of it would be necessary. But God gives wisdom to those that ask so to Him our hearts turn.

Thanks again for the bringing of it forward.

Blessings,

Much love in Christ, Not me

This is especially true for those who are unable to see anything profitable in a question. This is not to say that the question itself is unprofitable, but that if one is unable to answer the question, they should avoid it. To make the attempt is foolish and vain.

The whole world sees the gospel as foolish, but the gospel has the power to enlighten, and lead the foolish from unprofitable vainglory. Peter says to always be ready with a defense for your faith. There is something incredibly powerful in witnessing a debate between a snide, sniveling skeptic, and a respectful apologist.

So then what makes a question to be either foolish or unlearned?

Looking at the verse, there's more . . .

Titus 3:9 but shun foolish questionings, and genealogies, and strifes, and fightings about law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

It is something to think about! I feel like it's one of those, "I know it when I see it", and maybe that's all there is to it, but perhaps there are more definitive thoughts on this?

Unlearned would be, I imagine, people questioning things that are the fundamental teachings of Scripture.

Maybe this would qualify as foolish and unlearned both at the same time . . . "What if God didn't have the power to create everything?"

But it seems to me that what I see is more subtle than that.

Geneologies, that makes me think of the 10 Tribes debate. Fightings about law, that's easy to find! Unprofitable and empty of meaning.

Something to think about!

Much love!

As Paul says, any question which simply leads to strife and contention is a foolish question. You will find many such questions on Christian forums, such as wrangling over faith vs works.

Those not looking for and expecting to be raptured will be left behind Hebrews 9:28 tells us who will be caught up (raptured)
Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and """"them that look for him shall he appear the second time"""" without sin unto salvation.

Remembering, that unless specified, the scriptures are only for those " in Christ". Can I test you and ask what qualified and qualifies you to be "in Christ"?
