Rustling leaves, breaking off twigs...even branches is tolerated; the tree is not necessarily threatened but chop into the root and you have a serious problem.
Satan's empire is not threatened with leaf rustling, some twigs or even branches broken off but watch out when the axe hits the roots.
'The Church' at large has become Satans plaything. He uses it to promote his methods.
How does he use it? By plenty of pious talk, by formality and the image of being proper, by 'theological debates, scheduled prayer meetings' and by outing those who challenge the religious system.....outing them in a variety of subtle and not so subtle forms.
Jesus tells a parable in Matthew 21:33-44 of wicked tenants.
The religious fraternity recognised it was spoken against them, Matthew 21:45-46 .....the axe had struck the root and Satans kingdom threatened.....and now his life is being sought.
Jesus says in John 16:2 'They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.'
The strategy has been no different all through history.....and though God's people may appear to fall, there is resurrection in the wings.
