Yes, I was first made aware of their cult following years ago when a lab tech at my husband's place of work wanted to take six months off to "follow the Grateful Dead". The lab tech was apparently living with his parents and he just worked at his lab tech job until he would save enough money to take six months to follow the group around.

Tebaldi is good but NO ONE is comparable to the great Maria Callas in her rendering:

Callas is probably the greatest soprano who ever lived (so far). Leonard Bernstein once dubbed her, "the Bible of opera" for her vocal achievements. She was noted for her bel canto technique and her extensive repertoire of opera seria. Many critics spoke of the rivalry between Callas and Tebaldi.

Maybe she also did a recording of 'O Night Divine' with those really high notes at the end? :)
