In the extremes of fallen man, that Jesus found.
There is the creepy vicious attacks of the slithering serpents. They hide in the darkness of night using forked tounges to feel out warmth indicating some warm mouse to strike.
Then there's the self disciplined king cobra that during the day men may startle which in the tall grass pops up just in front. Noble, great, displaying it's mantle of power, two eyes painted on it's back to deceive any attackers from it's rear while it deals with that which is in front. The cobra disciplines itself painfully to stand upright perhaps at chest level with man. Ready to strike also.
Like mankind, extremes, one creepy and vicious, the sidewinder serpent. The other more dragon like, disciplined and dangerous. Standing arrogant, proud and yes dangerous also.
Some hide their sins like the criminals that defy God's laws and care nothing for law.
Others adhere to the letter of the law, like the brood of vipers Jesus encountered. But serpents also.
The righteous need no physician.
Jesus ate with the publicans and sinners, neither were serpents, neither enemies of God.
In the extremes were spots in the feasts of charity for those thieves, murderers and blasphemers that cared more about using criminal tactics to get gain, cared nothing for God's ways.
The other defied Jesus and his authority and sought accusations against Jesus, and when they could find no legal case against him, made one up for deception.

It is important for Christians to leave them both alone and seek after the lost sheep and the fish that are not enemies of God. If you don't seek those people, you will either be unwise letting every criminal consume your charities, or be overruled by the arrogant and self righteous. Both sinners to the point of enemies of God.
God will deal with the criminal ungodly and arrogant proud disciplined that demand letter of the law behavior.
We as children and people of God are directed in wisdom to go after those that desire of him, he will have prepared many for us to bring unto Christ. He says, cast your net that way at that time, and when there seems no fish, behold, Jesus gave a plentiful catch in the net.
Do not wander off to seek after serpents and dragons that will drain you and your efforts for Christ or place you in prison, and beat you into submission under them. For both are of the house of Satan. Let the dragons of the day deal with the serpents of the night.
Kick the dust off your feet and move on.
Reference the parable of the tax collector and Pharisee.
But charity is ours to choose. When persecuted by the wicked, God will reward them their works, and his servants theirs.
Cheers,
