Salvation is simple....Act 2:38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Water baptism isn't a requirement for salvation.

You do not have to go to college to have an adequate understanding of the scriptures. Keep in mind for the first 1500 years Christians did not have Bibles in their hands.....atleast not the New Testament. And for the first part of Christianity they did not have the writings of the Apostle Paul .....Yet tens of thousands were saved.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

Love God and each other and help those that you can.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor those habitually drunk, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 1st Corinthians 5:10

We all sin but Yeshua expects us to do our best to keep it to a minimum. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1st John 1:7-9

Be good and do good the best you can.

Now if we wrote this down and dropped it on an island, that would be all they need to be saved.

Now for a more detailed understanding of the Bible.
What not to do.....Do not go to the Bible looking for what you want to believe. Let the Bible teach you the truth. There are people that cherry pick through the scriptures to find vague scripture that they can twist to their beliefs. And then spend their life twisting and explaining away the scriptures that are clear and detailed. Take the Bible as a whole and key on the detailed specific scriptures.

Choose a modern Study Bible that is easy to read.....NASB...NIV....ESV etc.

Some people recommend reading the Bible from cover to cover, and you should. But if you are new to biblical study start with the New Testament and read those Old Testament scriptures referenced in the New Testament. And then go back and read the Old Testament. Just a suggestion.

Of course anyone that is serious about Christianity should be going to church and be involved with the Christian community. Worshipping the Lord with others is inspiring and church is a good place to discuss scriptures. And fellowship is a blessing.

Just because a bible was not in their hands did not mean sheep did not hear true scrips being read to them .

if they actually LEAN ON AND TRUST IN THE GOD and HIS CHRIST who inspired such words .

AS well wrote paul when he said BE SURE and also read the letter written to the chuch of laodicia .
THEY MADE SURE to educate their people .
YOU would also be amazed at how many would faithfully recopy those letters .
THINK polycarp and others too . THEY were getting these letters out in every generation .
SO while it was true not everyone might have had a letter
THEY SURE DID hear them read and often more than you think were being given letters
by many men who were faithfully recopying them day in and day out , AS DID P OLYCARP
after he got too old to faithfully walk the roads and preach the gospel .
YOU WOULD MARVEL at how many had access to THE TRUTH that was written .
THOUGH the CANON had not yet been formed as one cannon .
AND after that the same . THEY just kept writing and sending out copies .
In time , some many years later
m en were being put to death and persecuted for rewriting the whole of the new test
and some even both the new test and old test .
THEY WERE DOING what by grace i have been doing . THOUGH i have not re written anything .
What i mean is THEY WERE TRYING TO GET THE PEOPLE to read THE TRUTH for themselves

early on it was by word of mouth . but what words they heard were absolute truth .
As far as the gospels you would be amazed at how early on they were written .
Me thinks the scholars have that wrong .
However that wont condmen them , i mean a date is just a date .
I have no doubt that some of their let ters were written before the gospels .
But the gospel of luke , who later wrote acts . HE wrote even the acts WHILE paul was still alive .
And how do i know that . CAUSE if paul had been killed HE would have wrote it
and not said HE lived two whole years .
SO the gospel of LUKE was written even earlier .
I mean read the letter of acts . THE FIRST treatise o theolophis have i written
HE was talking about his gospel of luke , then went on to record the acts of the apostels .
SO yeah i am sure it was written some time after .
I mean how could he record acts that had not yet been done . SO yeah i pretty much assume
the same that the gospels were probably written a bit later . BUT NOT as late as one might think .
cause as i said even the book of acts was written while paul and OTHER apostels were still alive
OR ELSE he had recorded their death as HE did james and stevens .
so they MUST still have been alive when LUKE wrote acts , WHICH He wrote AFTER his gospel .
And we have all we need to KNOW even in them letters . Though GOD still speaks to us today .
