In the New Testament the word WORLD is used many times. Many people do not understand that there are two different words translated to English as world.

êḯóìïò
kosmos
kos'-mos
Probably from the base of G2865; orderly arrangement, that is, decoration; by implication the world (in a wide or narrow sense, including its inhabitants, literally or figuratively [morally]): - adorning, world.

kosmos - This is how most of us understand the use of the word ‘world’.

The other Greek word that is translated to WORLD is:

áé̓ù́í
aiōn
ahee-ohn'
From the same as G104; properly an age; by extension perpetuity (also past); by implication the world; specifically (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future): - age, course, eternal, (for) ever (-more), [n-]ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end). Compare G5550.

aion - proper meaning in an AGE, specifically a Messianic period.

Let us read the scriptures where KJV translated ‘aion into ‘world’.

Mat 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Jesus speaking to Pharisee’s is telling them that whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, shall not be forgiven in this world ‘age’ (age of Law) or in the ‘age’ (church age) to come. They were still in the age of Law at the time Jesus was speaking.

Mat 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Jesus speaking to his disciples is saying the care of this world ‘age’ (age of Law). So he wasn’t speaking about the care of the planet earth, but obedience to the Law.

Mat 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
Mat 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
Mat 13:40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
Jesus explaining the ‘end of the world’ to his disciples. He states that the tares are the children wicked and it is the devil that has tried to sow them in with the children of God.
I would like to point out to those that believe the prophecy of ‘Left Behind’ theology that it is the children of the wicked that were to be gathered up out of the world ‘age of law’ not the children of the kingdom and certainly not any of the ‘church age’ which had not even been formed at the time Jesus was speaking.

Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Paul writing to the church of Ephesus is pointing out that the church age is the world ‘age’ without end.

We should not let anyone that tells us that Jesus will come again to destroy our world ‘church age’.

All of the above is for our knowledge and it is important that we Christians find a church where the leaders are not blind to the word of God!

I would recommend the book of Genesis to jump-start one's quest to
accumulate Bible knowledge.

†. Gen 1:1 . . In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

That statement tells me little else but that God did it; sort of like a children's
story that begins with "Once upon a time". But let me tell you something:
that simple introduction puts my knowledge way out ahead of today's best
scientific minds because many of them have yet to solve that greatest of all
life's mysteries. They want a beginning, yes, but they don't want a beginner,
and have been going to great lengths in their sophistry to rule one out.

†. Gen 1:3 . . God said: Let there be light-- and there was light.

The Bible is notoriously concise in some places; especially in it's story of the
creation of light. Well; the creation of light was a very, very intricate
process. First God had to create particulate matter, and along with those
particles their specific properties, including mass. Then He had to invent
laws to govern how matter behaves in combination with and/or in the
presence of, other kinds of matter in order to generate photons. The same
laws that make it possible for matter to generate photons also make other
conditions possible too; e.g. thermodynamics, fusion, dark energy, gravity,
atoms, magnetism, radiation, high energy X-rays and gamma
rays, temperature,
pressure, force, sound, inertia, electricity, and organic
molecules; which are
the very kinds of molecules that make all forms of life
possible. So the creation
of light was a pretty big deal; yet Genesis scarcely gives its origin passing mention.

Well it's not hard to figure out why. Had Genesis gone into detail as to the
creation of light the ancient world would not have been able to comprehend
it: science was just too young and inexperienced back then; and it remained
too young and inexperienced for a good many millennia. So then, Genesis
tells me God did it; while modern science tells me how God did it.

†. Gen 1:1-2 . .The earth was formless and void

That statement reveals the cosmos' condition prior to the creation of light;
and no mystery there because sans the physics that make light possible, the
cosmos' particulate matter would never have coalesced into something
coherent.

2Cor 4:6 verifies that light wasn't introduced into the cosmos from outside in
order to dispel the darkness and brighten things up a bit; but rather, it
radiated out of the cosmos from inside-- from itself --indicating that the
cosmos was created to be self-illuminating by means of the various
interactions of the matter that God made for it; including, but not limited to,
the Higgs Boson.

1Tim 6:20 commands Christ's followers to avoid "science-- falsely so-called".
However, not all science is false. Previous to what we might call the modern
era, many scientific ideas were theoretical and largely untested; and
therefore subsequently proven largely false. But that all began to change as
men begin making, not ideas, but discoveries; and discoveries are far more
reliable than untested ideas.

Some Bible students regard science an enemy of religion; but I sincerely
believe that is a bad attitude to take towards science. Galileo believed that
religion and science are allies rather than enemies-- two different languages
telling the same story. Religion provides answers to questions that science
cannot answer, while science provides answers to questions that religion
does not answer.

There are well-meaning folk who would prefer that we keep all science out
of the Bible. I truly believe that is an error because though the cosmos has a
supernatural origin, it is not a supernatural cosmos; rather, it is a very natural

cosmos and the creation story makes better sense, at least to me anyway,
when it's approached from that angle.

Does the above information answer the question: Bible knowledge-- What In
the world is it? Yes; and I recommend pursuing it: verse by verse, chapter
by chapter, and book by book till you've got it all down pat.

It is important to do as you say. But it is not simple. We must fight the devil's lies and we can't do that without knowledge. The word of God even says to study to show ourselves approved of God.

A new convert is considered a babe in Christ and we can compare that to the natural. A baby has to be fed to survive.
