My husband and I do not go to a regular church for many reasons.

We have opted to build true fellowship within our family and friends first and foremost.

True fellowship is when people xan actually rely on one another for their needs getting met. It looks like this.

Acts 2:44-47

King James Version

44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Because of modern life, many churches opt to artificially make fellowship from a business model. This produces the effect of church attendance without people truly relying on each other or treating each other like family or with hospitality.

I wish you were closer sister, it would be a real blessing to visit with your family.

Thank you! Oregon is far, brother. I think the closest I've been is California. I used to hop in the passenger seat when my husband drove long distance. But I've seen pictures of Oregon. I think it's a gorgeous state with huge redwood trees.

Yes it's beautiful, but so is North Carolina. I drove long distance myself for 30 plus years. Tell your husband hello from Oregon.
Much love and much peace to you both.
Blessings in Christ Jesus.

Take a lot of interactions on this forum for example. A lot of people seek to influence each other without building any sort of trust or even civility, so it turns into angry rants often.

The early church was an "oikos" a "household" of faith. It's a LOT easier to just join an institution that you can be passive in. But to take responsibility for one's own walk???? That can be seen as cultic. The true cult is in the man-made institutions.

We are responsible, as believers, to bring revival....to seek God until He is found...both for personal relationship AND for a corporate visitation. As we penetrate into the open sky of limitless possibilities in Christ, we unleash God's Spirit to change the world around us.

I came to the Lord by the presence of a house fellowship on my street...the people of which I never met until years later. But their prayers and fellowship caused me to be convicted of my sins by the Spirit...leading to my conversion and baptism in the Spirit in my room.

The value of every household seeking God for His presence is invaluable and necessary.

So much truth there. My husband takes seriously the charge to lead me and our children. He is definitely a better person than me. I trust him with even my soul.

These churches want you to tithe, tithe, tithe, but when do you grow? When do you progress into maturity? How many opportunities do you have to exercise gifts or minister to the needs of others?

This is how the church was at its birth and was meant to function in this way. Gathering together doesn't have to be in a separate building with rules and formalities that don't leave room for the flow of the Holy Spirit.

I have been without a "home church" for a over 15 years. There is so much of man's flesh involved, they've structured out Holy Spirit and lost their brotherly love. I don't fit into their mold ...especially when I share my testimony. So why keep trying when rejection is inevitable? I know God is with me and He loves me. And He sends individuals my way that I can fellowship with. We don't meet in a building called a "church." But we can freely discuss the Word, pray, and minister to each other's needs.

This was so encouraging. Ive heard people say that those who don't go to church are in danger of losing faith. Im glad to know that after 15 years, your love for God continues and grows.
