CHS“Let us learn from Mary Magdalene… If thou canst wait for Christ, and be patient in the hope of having fellowship with him.., thou wilt never have fellowship at all; for the heart that is fitted for communion is a hungering and a thirsting heart.”CHS
So true, but it is not what Matthew 28:1 is about.
There is nothing to learn from Mary in Matthew’s anecdote of the events of the day that Jesus rose from the dead; rather to unlearn, such as Mary’s unbelief and impatience due to having given up the hope of ever having communion with her Saviour again.

CS“She (Mary Magdalene) sought him (the Lord Jesus) also with very great boldness. Other disciples fled from the sepulchre, for they trembled and were amazed; but Mary, it is said, "stood" at the sepulchre.”CS
Luke, also Mark and Matthew—quite meaningful, considering John recorded several women at Jesus’ death but no women at his burial, have this to say about those present at the successive scenes…,
Women At the Cross Before and Until Jesus had Died:
Luke 23: “27And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him. 28But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. 29For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck. 30Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. 31For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
John 19: 25Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. 26When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple (John) standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.”

Men At the Cross Before and Until Jesus had Died:
John 19: “16 Then delivered he (Pilate) Him unto them (the chief priests) to be crucified. And they (the soldiers) took Jesus, and led Him away. 17And he (Simon the Cyrene) bearing his (Jesus’) cross went forth 18 they (the soldiers) crucified him, and two other with Him 19Pilate wrote a title, and (had it) put it on the cross (by the soldiers). 20This title then read many of the Jews: 21the chief priests of the Jews 26the disciple (John) standing by”
Mark 15: “21 they (soldiers), Simon a Cyrenian 23they (soldiers who) gave him to drink 27two thieves; 29they that passed by 31also the priests, scribes”
Matthew 27: “32 (soldiers) came out, man of Cyrene, Simon 34They (soldiers who) gave him to drink 35And they (who) crucified him 36and sitting down watched him 37and (they Pilate and Jews that) set up his accusation 38two thieves 39and they that passed by 41the chief priests, scribes and elders”
Luke 23: “26 they (soldiers), Simon a Cyrenian 27a great company of people, 32also two other malefactors 35 the people (that) stood beholding and the rulers also with them deriding”

Women At the Cross AFTER Jesus had Died:
John 19: (John does not mention any women.) “28After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”
Matthew 27: “55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him, 56among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.”
Luke 23: “48 And all the people that came together to that sight, after having seen and witnessed the things which were done, 49as indeed all his acquaintance and the women that followed him from Galilee, and stood afar off beholding these things, smote their breasts and returned (home).”
Mark 15: “40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome; 41(Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.”

Matthew 27: “51 the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52And the graves were opened… 54Now when the centurion saw the earthquake he feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
Mark 15: “33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice… 35And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias. 36And one ran and gave him to drink… 37And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. 38And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. 39And when the centurion who stood over against Him, saw that Jesus so cried out and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.”
Luke 23: 44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth… 45 and the sun was darkened…until the ninth hour. And the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, He gave up the ghost. 47Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man. 48And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, returned, smiting their chests (for breath), fleeing.”
