Can a person commit suicide and go to Heaven?

Suicide, killing yourself. It is a weapon that the devil uses. Not God. Got has never encouraged anyone to commit suicide. He encourages people to come to Him and LIVE, not die. Honestly even if a person prays before he kills himself, that person is fulfilling the will of the Devil which came to steal, to KILL, and to destroy. By whose hands he does it, to him it does not matter, its the end result that he wants. God wants us to come to HIM. Even the thoughts of suicide to a worldly man bring shruggs. It is not something even in the element of man. A man has a stimule for self-preservation. To live. Those who commit suicide gave the most precious that they have to the Devil. Come to know JESUS, not the Devil. JESUS IS LIFE, JESUS IS WAY, JESUS IS LOVE, JESUS IS TRUTH. If we do not follow Him we follow Devil. If we do not listen to Him he will discipline us as His children. Suicide is MURDER of oneself. I do not believe there is anything worse a person can do in this world than take his/her own life. It is the last thing a person does if he does that. That person needed Jesus. Thats who he needed. Devil lied to Him and closed His eyes to Jesus which was the way out. Suicide is not the way out. Its a way into Hell. If anyone asks me that even if that person was "Christian" or he repented and commited suicide if he went to heaven. He did not.
What if I am angry at my brother the night before, and go to sleep angry without cause... and die in my sleep? Is this also the way to hell? Will I wake up and be cast into the lake of fire when I am judged?

Mat 12:32 And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him. But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this world or in the world to come. To say that any other sin is totally unforgivable is going against the scripture and the words of Jesus Himself. God is the ONLY one who knows the heart of the person committing suicide. God is the ONLY one who knows if that person is His or not. For those who believe that those who commit suicide will never be forgiven and won't be with Jesus then you had better make sure you NEVER commit any sin before you die or the same applies to you. If suicide is unforgivable then so is every other sin you can commit. To say that a person won't be with Jesus because they failed to ask forgiveness for a sin done right before they died is to step into the role of Jesus as judge of this world. That is NOT our job. Those of you who do this may be very surprise who it is you see standing with Jesus and who you don't see standing with Jesus.

Agreed,Alek - while I agree suicide is a grave matter, the question as to whether it automatically condemns a particular case to Hell is not something we could say with any certainty. We agree it is a very bad thing to do, but in judging such an act God alone would be in a position to judge them rightly - which would include their heart, state of mind...etc when the act was performed.

There is an answer to this type of question in the Word of God. 1st John 3:13-15 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death. 15 Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him.If i have anger or hate against a brother or a sister I go to sleep and i die, I will not be sent to heaven because there is no eternal life in that person. You are considered a murderer if you hate your brother even if your brother is physically alive, but in your heart you murdered him. How can one be angry at a brother without a cause? I have never had that yet. Everyone has a reason, it is just a meaningless reason not worth loosing heaven over with. God Bless.

Yeah we can't say. I just do believe it's one of the gravest actions. An action that does not leave any other actions up to you, just to God.

Aleks,I believe at times some in the Church taught some pretty black and white stuff, including that suicide was a one way ticket. I think it was error in teaching, part of sincere though misguided effort to scare people to do right. Scaring people to God is not the correct approach and it is not a unique approach to any particular group or Church. Can remember some pretty hair raising youth pagents in my younger days.Heard a Priest asked the same question; given a vision and responded that the lady's husband (who had been long suffering and felt a burden to all around him) falling to his death realized his error, repented of it and was restored before death with God. While not vouching for that story or advocating suicide as an option or not a grave sin, I think it does demonstrate that nothing is impossible with God, we cannot know the heart of any particular individual at death and that He alone judges our hearts.

Scott- May God give you and your wife understanding on this matter. I just came across this post of yours. I want you to know that God knows our hearts. He knows where your brother-in-laws heart was at that exact moment.Ephesians 6:12 'For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against Principalities, and the spiritual forces of wickedness.' Satan sends his angels (demons) to tempt everyone! Even Christians! Otherwise, Christains would be perfect and without sin in their lives. However, I'm sure we all know Christains who have lied, stolen, or even was unfaithful to their spouse. The first thing we want to say is "I would question their salvation to begin with." How dare us make that kind of a judgment call!!! Just so WE can make sence of it in OUR minds. This only means that they gave into the temptaion. Satan knows our weaknesses. Satan could have sent a demonic spirit to start telling your brother he was good for nothing, and would never amount to anything. If your brother started to believe that, then it would have made it easier for satan to send another demon to tell him -they don't even love you, your so pathetic, they wouldn't miss you if you were gone, and even if they did, it would be to late to do anything about it, and that would serve them right!!- What if your brother started to believe that to the point that even though people told him "I love you." He refused to believe them. So, now satan has sent a demonic spirit of:Selfpity,Unworthiness,Unloveable,and then suicide, that of course is always escorted with the spirit of death.John 10:10 'SATAN comes to steal kill and destroy.' We must NEVER lose sight of that, it is SATAN, it will always be SATAN, and it has always been SATAN who has come to steal, kill, and destroy. Even if your brother was listening to those spirits, it doesn't mean his heart wasn't right with God. God knows that there was a battle going on inside your brothers mind. The demonic spirits tring to steal his desire to live, kill his phyical body, and destroy his faimly. While your brother was fighting for his life, he may have just gotten tired and gave up. It's a horrible, and tragic thought, but, we need to learn how to take authority over satan and his powers. Jesus gave us that authority when He gave us His Holy Spirit.

You become God's child accepting Jesus as Lord. It's a free gift. You run in to so issues in life where there did not seem to be any solutions. God tried to lead you in the right direction for help but you disobeyed him (who hasn't?) and ended up in a church that taught no hope and God is gonna git ya sucker.Depression, takes over. there is no reason to live. Devils are hounding, there is not hope, no hope, no hope.You go ahead and do yourself in.What point did you stop being God's child? You lost out on the plan of God for your life, there are rewards in Heaven. You missed God when he had the solution. No indication that any act that is not of faith would send you to Hell.That sin that can not be pardoned is an act of faith. Those listed in Hebrews 6 and 10 are acts of faith. You make a choice that you no longer want God or anything to do with Jesus, You say No to the Holy Ghost that was given to you. That's only if you meet the conditions to even make those choices. Killing yourself is a choice made without all the proper facts in place. It's a place of confusion and you were born again through grace by FAITH. I cannot judge whether or not he was a "Christian", but I do know he did not lead the life of one.I never really gave the subject much thought until it hit close to home. I asked two pastors at our church this question... "If he had asked Christ into his heart just before committing suicide, would he go to Heaven"?What I got were two distinctively different answers.One pastor said that once you ask Him into your heart, you can never lose your Christianity- so in his opinion he would be in Heaven. (Maybe just telling us something he thought we wanted to hear?)The other pastor said that God wouldn't accept that type of pre-emptive prayer because only He can choose when or not we live or die. A true Christian would not consider taking his/her own life, but rather choose to lead a life that God has planned for them.For my wife's sake, I am open to any scriptural references regarding this subject. Ok, here are my thoughts on this matter.Once someone is saved, they cannot lose their salvation no matter what. They may lose rewards in heaven, they may miss out on the joys to be had in this life by walking closely with God, and they may miss out on God's will, but no matter what, they can "NOT" lose their salvation.Now brings up the question of whether or not he was saved. If he was saved then he is in heaven, and if he wasn't, then he isn't. However not one of us know the answer to that question. We can speculate whether he was or wasn't by his lifestyle, and by the fruit that he bore. The Bible says a tree is known by the fruit it bears, and so is a Christian. My opinion is this, I don't see how someone could ask God into their heart, and truly accept him, then turn right around and kill themselves. When one truly accepts Christ (that is through faith, belief, and REPENTANCE) then they are a new creature, and there is a joy and happiness that comes to a new convert when the burden of sins have been lifted. I find it hard to believe that someone could turn at that very moment and kill themselves. However, is someone has been saved for a while, and they have let life get them down and have not stayed close to God, then I could see them allowing the devil to talk them into killing themselves. Like I said though, none of us truly know, nor can we find that out till we get to heaven (or hell).Here though are some ways to at least be able to get somewhat of a speculation as to whether someone is saved or not:1. Does he/she bear righteous fruit?2. Does he or she get chastened by God when they are out of his will and living in sin, or do they go on like it is normal. God said he "WILL" chasten his children.3. Does this person have a specific time that they remember asking the Lord into their heart?4. Does this person have changed life to go along with that acceptance?Hope this helps some. The Almighty God is even more just than men, Deut 32:4, Ps 86,15, 130:3,4. There is no doubt that your wife's brother will be in the paradise that Jesus spoke about. The question is; will you and your wife be there to welcome him back when he is resurrected?? You must search out the ONLY true religion, because we are living in what the Bible calls the Last Days, 2Tim 3:1-5, Eph 4:3-6. The people that are destroyed at Armageddon will be thrown into the Lake of Fire, The Second Death, and will be gone forever, Rev 20:14,15, 2Thes 1:6-9, Matt 25:32-34,41,46.

If the person has a mental disease, and is unable to cope with life, then that person may be unable to go on with life, and end their life, not by their own choosing. Yes, there are differing levels of heaven as you say in accordance with how we built our life of faith. Some people get saved, and may be truly saved, but if their concerns (to put it colloquially) are more on the church potluck dinner just to fund raise or to draw people in (as opposed to the ways of the bible), then since that is something of the flesh, it will be burned up and won't go to one's spiritual account so-to-speak.I personally believe we will be judged at the judgment seat of Christ in heaven. This is not for salvation, but based on how we used what Christ has given to us, thus the "rewards" and our rank in the kingdom. And notice I said with the kingdom as I believe the saints will rule and reign with Christ here on this earth. We will have access to heaven, but will be where he is until the creations of the new heaven and earth. I feel this verse is refering to the work Spiritual/physical that which is eternal and will continue to build on our foundation of Christ. Those things built by others on our foundation will be tested to see weather they are truth and stand for righteousness. Those things built not in line with the Word will surely fail.As for the topic of suicide, I think it is important to take literally all that scripture has to say on killing. Whether it is another life or our own. Some suicides are caused by a reaction to medicine and others can be the result of dibilitating brain damage caused by a stroke or closed head injury. Some diseases cut off the communication between the sould and the flesh. The brain is flesh and its disease does not affect the soul. If you are having suicidal thoughts, get help. Suicide is a sin and only God can give or take life. Sin is not the last thing you want to do on earth. It is also can't be said that a young man will go to hell because of a bad choice in acne medicine.

The fact is, once you accept Christ as your saviour you are saved for ever and have everlasting life. You cannot lose the everlasting life that God has given you. There are many verses the show that all throughout the New Testament. Do you not believe that Jordan?
