Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Loving God is with our entire being, our mind, heart, will, soul and emotions.

But the battle begins in the mind.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

The heart will follow what the mind is reasoning or rationalizing. For where your heart is so to is your treasure and as a man thinketh so is he. Proverbs 23:7

Matthew 15:18-20
But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person;

Life was solid in the Old Testament. I mean HARD. These next few verses really hit me.

Lev 24:10 And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp;
Lev 24:11 And the Israelitish woman's son blasphemed the name of the LORD, and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.
Lev 24:12 And they put him in ward, that the mind of the LORD might be shewed them.

So already we see a conflict in the family structure. You have a son who's mother is an Israelite and who's father is an Egyptian.
So this son of the Israelitish woman faught with an Israel man. This man was not like his dad.
My Dad is better than your Dad.. No he's not, Yes he is, no he's not... BAM.. POW...POW...BAM..
And the son who's Father was an Egyptian blashemed the name of the Lord, and cursed..

So They brought him to Moses and they put him in jail, until they should hear what the JUDGE would say..
The MIND of the Lord.

Lev 24:13 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 24:14 Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
Lev 24:15 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin.
Lev 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

Basically this son got thrown out of the church, and all the congregation were to go and stone him to death.
When I read verse 15, what I hear is, If any one curses this son's God (which is no god because their is only one) but if they do, then they will be found as guilty as the son was. Guilty... doesn't say death.. could be there could be an atonement for this, I'm not sure.
However, If anyone blasphemes the name of the Lord, then they get stoned the same way as the son of the Egyptian dad.

I make a point the dad was Egyptian because that's what the bible did. If he was an Israelite the bible would of said so.
So there must be a reason for taking note that the dad was not an Israelite.

R E S P E C T

If the people saw that giving no regard to the name of the Lord, led to no consequences, they would just be a bunch of unruly disrespecting, snot nosed little tyrants.
So the Lord had to nip that right then and there.
Tough Love, some call it.. hmm

That was the law without mercy. It was stone like their hearts.
When Jesus came he showed the Lord's true intent of the flesh side of that law.
He said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do..
When Jesus came, he didn't come to be the JUDGE. He came to save the sinners.

Phl 2:1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
Phl 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Phl 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Phl 2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
Phl 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Phl 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Phl 2:7 But made himself of no reputation (not a judge), and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Phl 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Phl 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Phl 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Phl 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
