The vid was on point. The narrator put it this way, Star Trek used to be about an idea where an adventure would ensue. They turned it into a Marvel action story that occasionally trips over an idea!
Star Trek was never primarily about technology or special effects or battling adventure but ideas, story telling. They need to tell a good story sans woke ideology. The same with Star Wars.
The idea of Star Trek was the best of humanity coming together for a better future. The Academy is the opposite. Star Wars trilogies also had ideas: OT was about good overcoming evil; the PT was about evil overcoming good. The third trilogy (TT) was a total mess, telling no coherent story, no arch transcending the 3 films. If anything, the films contradicted each other.
Modern art contains the form but not the substance of what it once did, a reflection of a decaying society.
