Colossians 1:27,

27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

If you were to define Christianity how would you do it? Would you define it by what you do, how you keep the sacraments and the things you do to keep it going. How would you suppose the writers in the bible defined it? What was their take on what the Christian life is? Have you ever given much thought to really what makes a Christian? or have you determined all of your Christian life is wrapped up in a theology that you have heard and like? What is a Christian? it really is a very simple answer; a Christian is someone with Christ in them.

That may be the easiest definition you can have in scripture of Christianity there is. Your outward living of Christianity will be determined by the understanding of Christ in you. How you see him. Some are still struggling with the understanding of the Old Testament God who was ready to judge and pounce on all disobedience. Rightly so, but you have to seperate Old and New because He was not father to any in the Old Testament. They were under a completely different plan and set of rules, laws, relationship, and so on. They didn't even know they had a sin nature all they knew was they sinned. We do kind of have the upper hand wouldn't you say.

You cannot define Christianity by the Old Testament because everything is different, dispensation's are different, one is law the other grace. That's like trying to mix oil and water. You cannot define it by anything other than Christ in you, if you do you are not defining Christianity, you are defining some notion. Your outward living of the life of Christ is determined by the room you give him. Do you give him room, is he your life, is Christ the life that comes out of you in your dailey life not just one day a week.

You have no other life so what you live is determined to be Christ. Christians have to give Christ the room so he can be expressed through them as life. How do Christians do that? they do it like Paul said you must do that; you learn Christ, not the Christ outside of you but the Christ in you, for he is; the hope of glory. We are to know no man after the flesh; not even Jesus of Nazareth. You seek and look and learn the Christ in you, not an outer Christ.

Jehovah is the Father: Is. 63:16; 64:8; Deut. 32:6; Ps. 89:26; Jer. 3:1, 4; 31:7, 9, ASV.

Even many personal names of Israelites in the OT actually meant "Jehovah (or 'God') is the Father": "Abijah,' `Abiah,' `Joab,' 'Eliab,' 'Abiel,' etc. - but they never said anything remotely like `Jehovah is the Son' [or the Messiah, the Firstborn, etc.]!

Before Jesus died, he had this revealing conversation with the Jews:

[Jesus said to the Jews]: "You are doing the deeds of your father.” They said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father: God.” - John 8:41, NASB.

Any man can call God father, it happens in the world everyday. To use the term is meaningless, there has to be a birthing take place to call God father, no birthing in the Old Testament. It's like saying we are all children of God, that is favorite term used in the world. They confuse all created with all being birthed. It could not happen until the cross and the killing of the sin nature. God is only father to the born again.

Look at John chapter 8 again and you can see where they made the statement Abraham was their father, Jesus says not so, you are of your father the devil. Jesus makes a very strong point to show humanity had something in them that seperated them from God, it was a nature that was a sinning nature.

In the Old Testament their relationship was a God to people relationship, not a father to child relationship. We are completely and totally different in the way God our father handles us. Jesus said "no man comes to the father but by me." Thanks for your comment.

Lol quite alright. Is there anything you can do to help the punctuation. I get corrected on punctuation at times, rightly so, and invite to make the changes needed before I post a thread but no takers yet :-)

Punctuation can be quite complex, esp. the use of commas. I say just make effective communication your goal, and you'll be fine. :)

Exactly, it was not a strong point for me in school. I try to put in a comma where it looks like it fits, works sometimes.

I tell my students that putting a comma where you would pause in speaking a sentence is a good rule of thumb, but it's not foolproof. I would say that most people don't understand commas that well, so just about everyone on this board is in the same boat. IOW, don't worry about it. :)
